Optima D34 YellowTop battery provides the extra performance and deep-cycling capability that your vehicle demands if it has a lot of accessories like running lights, high-performance stereo/AV system, winches, or hydraulics. The unique SpiralCell design provides a strong and clean power source, ensuring the safety of you, your family and the environment. The Optima battery is ideal for seasonal use because of its very low self-discharge rate. That means you can store your seasonal vehicles all winter without regular charging and still spring out of the starting block when winter is over.

Ultimate Power, for the ultimate professionals, for the ultimate enthusiasts. And for the ultimate experience. That's our goal each and every day. We look for every technological advantage to push the limits of what's possible and leave pretenders in our dust.
We manufacture our own batteries in our own facilities to our demanding standards. To ensure quality and consistency in our batteries, no matter where they are being sold - our batteries are never re-labeled or re-spec'd.
Everything you need
The OPTIMA YellowTop high-performance AGM battery is one of the only true dual-purpose automotive batteries available.
With premium cranking power and unparalleled cycling capability (rechargeability), it is perfect for modern accessory-loaded vehicles. With a 40-year history of technological innovation and engineering OPTIMA products offer unstoppable power for extreme enthusiasts.
Trucks with winches, vehicles with high-demand audio systems and commercial vehicles can all rely on this battery to provide ultimate starting and deep-cycle power.
- Deep-cycle and cranking power
- Up to 3x longer life and maintenance-free
- More than 15 times the vibration resistance
- Spillproof, mountable in virtually any position
- Faster recharging and 300+ discharge/recharge cycles
At the heart of every OPTIMA battery is a series of individual spiral-wound cells comprised of two pure (99.99%) lead plates coated in a precise coating of lead oxide. One coated plate is positive and the other is negative.
The unique manufacturing process of spiral winding continuous lead plates is far more precision-controlled and expensive than building traditional flat plate AGM batteries. Custom automated cell-winding machines are required to maintain the close tolerances required to maintain quality and performance. Critical tolerances, temperatures, humidity and automated processes are maintained and constantly monitored.
OPTIMA has built over 100 million individual spiral cells since the early 1990’s.
What's the difference between OPTIMA RedTop, YellowTop, and BlueTop Batteries?
For normal engine starting where an alternator immediately monitors the state of charge and provides energy to the battery whenever it is needed.
This would describe most stock vehicles, including: automotive and RV underhood starting, heavy equipment where starting is the primary function, and diesel vehicles without aftermarket electronics.
Use this when electrical loads are higher than average, or when the discharge cycle is more than typical engine starting, such as vehicles with multiple electronic accessories and vehicles without alternators. This can also include vehicles with a lot of factory electronics such as power sliding doors and a DVD player. Examples also include: racing vehicles without a charging system, dedicated drag racers, diesel powered vehicles with aftermarket electronics, and vehicles with inverters, winches, or other accessories.
The BlueTop starting battery (dark gray case) is to be used when a dedicated starting battery is required and it should never be used for cycling duty. Use a BlueTop starting battery for marine applications and RVs when the battery's only function is engine starting.
The dual purpose BlueTop (light gray case) can be used for both starting and deep cycling -- it is a true deep cycle battery with extremely high cranking power. Uses include: trolling motors, marine applications with heavy electrical accessories, and RVs.

It charges up, then after a week or two it won’t even crank the motor, I have it installed on a classic muscle car, with a complete shut off switch i.e. completely disconnected - no drain whatsoever. Just in case I have also disconnected the terminals, same issue.
Once “dead” it recharges again, and yes I am using the correct battery charger. I have had a check done on the battery at an auto parts store and it shows as “good” ... but it isn’t in practice. It must have some internal drain, but that is just a best guess.
I guess I’m stuck with it and out of pocket well over $200 as I can’t return it to amazon and the local auto parts stores can’t do anything because I didn’t buy from them.
Beyond disappointing. A complete waste of money.
NOTE: The manufacturer was correct and that alot of vehicles won't work for this.
(both my chevys technically aren't compatible)

Rather: [2012 Chevy Malibu LS] I had to straightened out the termial connectors to make them fit, thank goodness the factory lines have enough slack.
(As of January 5, 2021 the Malibu is still running)
Rather: [2015 Chevy Equinox LT] This one was the most challenging, since the lines are backwards (meaning when you rotate the battery 180 degrees the male leads are 4inchs too far from the female connectors). I had to cut the original heads off the lines and extend them by 6ins so I'd have plenty of slack. That job took me 5hrs to do and it tuned out near flawless. The only issues is that the bracket that secures the battery is now 1.5ins higher then the original and when you place everything back together the hood closes but there is a slight 3cm gap at the driverside lamp (maybe I'll correct this later, not a big deal).
