At the heart of every OPTIMA battery is a series of individual spiral-wound cells comprised of two pure (99.99%) lead plates coated in a precise coating of lead oxide. One coated plate is positive and the other is negative.
The unique manufacturing process of spiral winding continuous lead plates is far more precision-controlled and expensive than building traditional flat plate AGM batteries. Custom automated cell-winding machines are required to maintain the close tolerances required to maintain quality and performance. Critical tolerances, temperatures, humidity and automated processes are maintained and constantly monitored.

What's the difference between OPTIMA RedTop, YellowTop, and BlueTop Batteries?
For normal engine starting where an alternator immediately monitors the state of charge and provides energy to the battery whenever it is needed.
This would describe most stock vehicles, including: automotive and RV underhood starting, heavy equipment where starting is the primary function, and diesel vehicles without aftermarket electronics.
Use this when electrical loads are higher than average, or when the discharge cycle is more than typical engine starting, such as vehicles with multiple electronic accessories and vehicles without alternators. This can also include vehicles with a lot of factory electronics such as power sliding doors and a DVD player. Examples also include: racing vehicles without a charging system, dedicated drag racers, diesel powered vehicles with aftermarket electronics, and vehicles with inverters, winches, or other accessories.
The BlueTop starting battery (dark gray case) is to be used when a dedicated starting battery is required and it should never be used for cycling duty. Use a BlueTop starting battery for marine applications and RVs when the battery's only function is engine starting.
The dual purpose BlueTop (light gray case) can be used for both starting and deep cycling -- it is a true deep cycle battery with extremely high cranking power. Uses include: trolling motors, marine applications with heavy electrical accessories, and RVs.

Weighed in at 37.7 lbs vs 41 lbs for the stock battery, so shaved off a little over 3lbs of dead weight. This was a nice incentive as it reduces high center of gravity front-end weight a little bit. Even though lighter, my yellowtop has 70 CCA more than the stock battery and a lot more reserve capacity.
Cranked just fine, very strong, and hopefully will have a long life ahead. Even if not so, the 3 year free replacement warranty (not some pro-rated scheme) direct from Amazon gives me a lot of confidence.
Also, I chose the Yellow over the Red since Honda's have a so-called "intelligent" charging system that seldom applies 14.4v current to the battery. Instead, the system is purposely setup to drain down the battery a good amount so the alternator has no load and this can help fuel economy/emissions. Net effect is increased drain-down wear and tear to which the Yellow top should much better resist than the Red, or any other non deep cycle battery. Although some may fault the lack of CCAs over the Red, I once again remind you that this has 70CCA more power than stock.
The actual direct fit Optima is the D51R model. It's not as wide front to back as the D35 model.
Had to discard the original plastic battery box and use the yellow tray the Optima came with, I also have to buy a new battery tie-down because the one the car came with only fit the original size battery (D51R size).
Happy in general bc Optima batteries are amazing but, would've been happier if it was the true direct fit.
My car starts up perfectly now but I have had it only for 2 weeks, so far it gets a 5 stars for performance, I will report back with how long this battery last, I have the TL Technology package with navigation and upgraded sound system so I went for the yellow top instead of the red top.

CHECKED THE BATTERY AND CHARGED SHOWS THE BATTERY HAVE 95% BEFORE CHARGING
WILL CHARGE TO 100% AND KEEP MAINTAIN CHARGING AT 3A .
MY CAR BATTERY EVERY TIMES I CHECKED IS 85% ACID TYPE BATTERY BOUGHT USED CAR .
Looking forward to see how long this battery lasts in my old 1986 mr2.
Up until that point, was all good. Post came unseated and then massive corrosion began, ended up needing to reground and install new terminals.
While it was working, I had not a single issue, wheeling, boondocking, etc.
