I have tried 2 other USB 3.0 cards for my MAC Pro and this is the only one that worked perfectly out of the box!
No drivers were needed, just install and boot. Everything worked perfectly in Mavericks 10.9.1 and there was a HUGE speed difference.
Also, you did not need ANY external power plugged into the card!

I have uploaded the install video I posted on YouTube under Techdripper

I have been using this for over 6 months now to access my fast external drives, and it works as advertised. In other words, I am impressed with the speed and quality of the product. I have it humming away on an old Mac Pro running Yosemite 10.10. I installed it when I was on Mavericks and I did not install any additional drivers or updates (gotta love Apple's Mac OS X). It just works! I would highly recommend this to anyone wanting to connect fast hard drives that have a USB 3 interface. Also works fine with anything slower than USB 3.

I installed the Inateck in slot 2 (16X) of a mid-2009 Mac Pro running Mavericks (OS 10.9.5). The socket was dusty so I blew it out before installing. I had minor problems with alignment between the socket and backplate retainer: bottom tip of the backplate fell a little short of the card cage retainer. So I ever so slightly bent the backplate--metal is flexible--and everything lined up and snapped into place.

As with my other PCI cards, I had to reset PRAM (command-option-P-R at startup) before the card was recognized. No compatibility issues with hardware or software thus far. Everything works fine, only faster. My Dycom USB 3 hub, Transcend USB 3 flash drive, Lexar USB 3 card reader and Seagate Backups USB 3 basically burned rubber compared to USB 2. As other posters have indicated, USB3 drivers are not written in Mac Pro ROM so USB devices attached to this card will not be recognized until the system loads (so don't connect a startup drive or keyboard).

I plan to install Yosemite on a separate partition but noticed a new product disclaimer: "incompatible with Yosemite." This disclaimer wasn't there a month ago so either issues arose after Yosemite or Inateck hasn't tested this card under OS 10.10 and are protecting itself from liability. Several reviewers indicate the Inateck worked fine under Yosemite. When I get around to installing Yosemite I'll come back and amend this review.

All in all a great USB 3 card for barely more than a Jackson. Fairly simple install and no extra power cord or special drivers needed. But if you're running Yosemite, you might want to hold off on purchasing until official Yosemite compatibility is announced or more Yosemite users write reviews.

Those of us who use MacPro systems have been stuck with either USB 2 or difficult USB 3 upgrades. My husband has been tracking this for some time, wanting to upgrade his system to USB 3 because he had an awesome external drive that was USB he uses for TimeMachine.

All his research indicated, he needed to be careful. Too many people were having issues with various chipsets, needing to run power to USB 3 cards or had compatibility issues.

This card just slipped in to his system and worked. He connected his TimeMachine 3TB drive (not TimeCapsule which is different) and he was very impressed with the speed of the card/drive combination.

A bonus for this card is no extra power is needed, no extra cables to be run. This thing just works.

Works great under Mac OS X Yosemite in a 3,1 Mac Pro. I also have a PCI SSD adapter and there is a slight issue during boot up. I cannot boot on the first attempt. I have to press and hold the power button to manually turn it off. Then I press the power button to restart and it works fine. Not sure what is causing it but it is working.

I'm using a Transcend USB 3.0 reader with a UDMA 7 CF card. Using Blackmagic Disk Speed Test I am averaging 81MB write and 116MB read. Huge upgrade from USB 2.0. I'm trying to prolong the life of a 7 year old computer.

I can confirm that the Inateck KT4004 PCIe USB 3.0 card works in my Mac Pro running OS X Yosemite 10.10.1.
I have two of these cards in my Mac Pro, and they work just fine. I have not had any problems.

Almost too easy. Installed it in my 2006 Mac Pro 1,1. At first I installed it in PCI slot 2 and it was not providing power, I installed it in the 3rd slot and it worked like a charm! I'm not sure if this is because of the way apple designed their slots or if there is an issue with my slot 2.

Right now I have my 500gb USB 3.0 powered drive connected to it and it is working great.

Note: On a 2006-2007 mac pro you will not get the full speed of the USB 3.0 because the PCI 1.0 slots are not as fast as the 2008-2012 Mac Pros. It is however 3x faster than USB 2.0. I verified this using blackmagic disk app.

This card works great. I've been using it for months now on my Mac Pro 2012. The throughput speeds are terrific and you cannot beat the price. Installation was a breeze and no additional drivers were needed. One word of note, this card will *not* allow you to boot USB 3.0-compatible devices from it on the Mac Pro. The ability apparently existed with OS 10.9 and prior (tho I cannot see how) but the card now will not initialize until the kernel has loaded completely and the USB 3 drivers in 10.10 and 10.11 have loaded (which might be why Inateck says it's not compatible). There's no EFI boot ROM on the card to interface with the EFI system in the Mac's so until the OS is loaded the card simply isn't recognized.

So why only four stars? Because in spite of massive statements to the contrary Inateck STILL says the card doesn't work with Yosemite (OSX 10.10) or El Capitan (OSX 10.11). Get it, install it, use it, it's great - you'll love it.
