Slow Digesting Premium Micellar Casein Protein
While rapidly digesting whey protein is desirable immediately before and after exercise to help support muscle recovery, a slower digesting casein protein is the better choice between meals and especially right before bed when your body can go for hours without nutritional support. Casein proteins thicken in the acidic environment of the stomach and, compared to other proteins, it can take longer for our Gold Standard 100% Casein to be broken down into its amino acid subcomponents. By using only premium micellar casein as a protein source, we’re created a formula that sets the standard for slow digesting protein support.
Beyond The Basics
24 grams of slow-digesting micellar casein per serving with 60% of the daily value for Calcium. Provides nearly 5 grams of naturally occurring BCAAs (Leucine, Isoleucine & Valine) and nearly 5 grams of naturally occurring Glutamine & Glutamic Acid in every scoop.
Thicker, Richer Shakes
While whey protein shakes tend to be thinner in consistency, casein protein powder creates a thicker more richly flavored shake. When mixed into cold water or milk, micellar casein resembles an ice cream milkshake in texture. It’s a solid foundation for using an electric blender to create endless varieties of smoothies with fruits, nuts and other ingredients.
Make Protein Ice Cream
Satisfy your sweet tooth with an amino acid packed protein treat you’ll look forward to using as a before bed snack. Simply mix one scoop into half the amount of water or milk you normally use (5 to 6 ounce), place in the freezer for about 5 minutes and enjoy!
Optimal Usage Occasions
Before bed to provide amino acid delivery while you’re asleep and between meals for lasting protein support.

1. Do I need Casein Supplement.
Almost every Human being can benefit from Casein, however everyone DOES NOT need a Casein supplement. I would recommend this supplement to only someone who is at intermediate or advance fitness levels (rest will do good with cottage cheese- provided you relish it). If you are a beginner, than please stay away from pure Casein supplement for a while, its not the starting point by any mean and you will not get much benefit out of it. Beginners are better off with Whey only or blend supplements.
2. Hey is Casein better than Whey?
Yes and No. The big question is compared to What. If one is looking for a general protein source, then NO way. Caesin is not a well rounded and balanced protein, it is a specialized protein. In other words, its Amino Acid profile is not balanced. Its inclined towards recovery ( high Glutamine and Anti Catabloic properties). Lastly its Biological value is only 77 compared to 104 of Whey.
However, what it does for the body, no other protein can. It digests very very slow and release rich amount of Glutamine and other Amino acids which helps you recover and stay Anabolic.
3. What is Special about ON Casein
First and foremost, its not exactly the most delicious and consistent protein by nature. Nothing that ON can do to change it, this is the nature of Casein. But, what ON does is that it gives you the best of Casein, the Micellar Casein. Making it the best Casein protein supplement in the market.
4. Whats the heck with Casein and Why is Casein protein more expensive than Whey?Read more ›
I always laugh when I see someone reviewing the "taste" of a whey protein supplement. Generally speaking, if a whey protein supplement tastes super good, then it's probably loaded with extra sugar, which will basically counteract any benefit you might get with extra protein supplementation, or else it has chemical sugars which will cause long-term problems and possible GI issues.
I don't care about taste at all, it's not at all what I'm looking for. Whey protein isn't supposed to be a treat, it's a supplement. That said, I really do feel like the taste is pretty darn good with this one. Sure, It's not like drinking a milk shake, but it has a smooth flavor that goes down well. I don't ever mix anything it, but I always put tons of ice in my blender bottle and shake it up so it's nice and cold. I feel like with this Casein I have found a winner. I highly recommend this product over all of ON's regular line because its the natural line.
Note: If you're purchasing casein as opposed to whey, it's probably because you want the slow-releasing digestive action of amino acids into the bloodstream that is provided by casein over whey.Read more ›
I decided to buy this product because not only was it the number #1 selling casein protein powder on Amazon but I had heard a lot of good things about the product. I wanted to see for myself if it lived up to all the hype.
Ingredients and Nutritional Profile:
Refer to product image and description.
When I first tried the product by adding 1 scoop of powder into 350ml of water and mixed it with a spoon I found it to be very thick and creamy, a bit like yogurt. I found that it did not taste as nice as I expected. It tasted slightly artificial. However I found that I got to like the taste a lot more as time went by and I did not get sick of it by the end like I did with many other protein powders. If you want to enhance the taste of this product then I recommend having it with semi skimmed milk or full fat milk.
Note: This type of protein (casein) is a lot different from other powders in that it is meant to be very thick. It is a slow release protein that is designed to be taken between meals and before going to bed.
I found that the product mixes really well in water, milk, porridge and smoothies. I have not come across a casein product that mixes any better. It's mixed better in a pint glass than a shaker.
After taking the product for 2 months, twice a day (between meals and pre bedtime) whilst weight training 4 times a week and doing cardio 3 times a week I found that my strength and muscle growth had improvement, I had more energy and I was getting more toned. It was mostly evident around my arms and chest where my T-Shirt got tighter. I could lift 5-10% more and I felt a lot stronger even when I wasn't in the gym.Read more ›
