Upon opening, the pots and pans are tiny! If you're a large hungry man, you'll need a bigger set unless you just plan on boiling water for dehydrated meals. Handles seem strong enough to lift as much that fits without bending. Pot has 8, 12, 16 ounce markings readable from the inside. Then pan/lid combo is nice, however I'd like to see the pot go up to 24 ounces, with a shallower pan lid. It seems just slightly too deep for a pan.
The stove is a jet burner. It oxidized after the first use, but I didn't buy it for looks so whatever. It puts out a ton of heat. I really like the wide burner instead of a narrow one to prevent hot spots. On a simmer, the flame will heat the entire bottom of this pot set, awesome!
Trial run: couscous with a few fresh veggies mixed in. Put 4 oz of water in to boil for the couscous on my deck. Started the stove, ran inside to grab a spoon to stir with and it was boiling by the time I got back. Great! Moved the pot aside to let it simmer a bit with the couscous in (3 oz). Mixed in a few (5) cherry tomatoes, some carrot slices, a little bit of white onion, a little garlic and a teaspoon of olive oil into the little pan lid. Put that on and stirred that around for a few minutes. Rotated back to the couscous and then the veggies again one more time. Mixed it all together for a decent sized lunch. Not super filling, but plenty. Could have added plenty more couscous if I was hungrier.
What I didn't like:
The pot and pan cooled almost immediately. Great for cleanup, not so great when you're cooking in both.
The valve control is touchy. Everyone said this about this stove but the problem is not the valve, but the foldout control. As you turn it, if it bends in or out, the gas can turn up or down. With a little practice and focus, it can easily simmer on a low setting.
All in all, I feel like this is a decent set. Should last for plenty of trips where you don't need to cook for anyone else.
