I say "more or less" because it is exceedingly difficult to implement the described approach and "safely earn 10-20% annual returns consistently, year after year," as claimed, in a low volatility environment (i.e. when the VIX is, say, 12-16). If you are a stickler for value and have some idea what particular stocks are really worth, the opportunities are even rarer, unfortunately.
The authors have reportedly been doing this for many years, so there ought to be lots of real-time examples to illustrate their approach. Yet as another reviewer wrote, referential examples in the text are almost nonexistent --much less to suggest the sustainability of 10-20% returns during a complete market cycle. When historical transactions are described in this book, the names are nearly always obscured. Most often, illustrations are hypothetically referenced as stock XYZ, etc.
A couple of additional quibbles: a few technical terms important to the implementation of the strategy (e.g. "primary support" and "secondary support") are nowhere clearly defined nor, once again, are actual examples provided.
To give the authors an opportunity to address these matters prior to writing my review, I emailed an inquiry using the email address provided on the back of the book, but encountered a return-to-sender notice; their stated web address is also unavailable (as it has been since I purchased the book in December 2012).
Even accounting for the above criticisms, this is a reasonably safe place to begin studying put-writing. You are likely to make money using this strategy without having stocks put to you. But you are probably not going to make "consistent 10-20% returns" during prolonged periods of market complacency.
methods to select stocks on which to write naked put options.
Rather than re-hashing the usual definitions of options and the
use of option strategies, they get to the most important part of
option trading. Highly recommended.
The one drawback is that the 10-20% returns they discuss assume a decent amount of volatility in the market. In periods of low volatility, these returns are a stretch.
If you are experienced in selling puts, there really is no new information in this book. They do however lay out a nice game plan. If you are a beginner or novice in this area, this is a great book.
Since I bought the book used, I did not get the cd that comes with it so I do not know how useful it is.

Credible content. These two know their stuff. They are too conservative for my liking, but an aggressiveness factor can be adjusted. Solid concepts. Thorough.Published 21 months ago by Progressive Vegan
