This is a great album. Fans of mellow electronica will dig it. Fans of the show Buffy the Vampire Slayer will recognize the music as similar to what George Sarah did for the show as half of the group THC when their songs were used on the show as the real band behind Veruca (werewolf from Season 4). This is a great atmospheric album.

George Sarah is a true musician at heart, first a composer of a classical nature and next an electronic artist. The atmospheric energies he creates remind me of much earlier tape loop artists such as Brian Eno. His ability to form classical composition is not lost in this genre, but exemplified through the palette of electronica. This album creates mellow grooves and subtle spacey atmospheres (somewhat reminiscent of Moby's Ambient or Robert Miles for me) and mixes it up with a few vocal tracks on the disc.
I had the opportunity to see him perform, which a live trio. His skill was truly brought to light in that venue. I hope, for his sake and ours, that he continues to create music, and finds success in it. I highly recommend this album for anyone who likes spacey, ambient electronica.

A favorite on the play lists of KCRW and KXLU, a "catch of the day" on KROQ, and now with musical works featured on TV shows like Buffy and Angel, Local composer George Sarah is
gaining an ever greater audience. His record, a unique hybrid of classical chamber music and
subtle ambient electronica, succeeds where others, like William Orbit's "Pieces in a modern
style" produced only yarns. Perhaps George Sarah knows something about the texture and
dramatic intensity emanating from the chords of a Cello, or a Violin when performed acoustically by his string section. "Opus 11" bears resemblance to Massive Attack's symphonic arranger Craig Armstrong's "The space between us", but it is a scaled down, more minimalist journey which doesn't try to be a blockbuster Soundtrack with every chord progression, exercising restraint and leaving enough emptiness for the listener to come and meet his music halfway.

I first heard this CD back in March (2001) when George gave me an advanced copy. I liked it so much that I made a point to buy a copy when it was finally released to show my support for his work. It was the best $ ... I have spent on music in a long, long time.
George Sarah also contributed a very hip track to the CD, "Plastic Mutations: an electronic tribute to Radiohead."
Definately worth the money!
