Product Description

Very high quality. Produced from orange flowers of the Seville bitter orange tree. Imported from France. The orange has a long history in many Mediterranean countries. So does orange flower water. It is distilled from bitter orange blossoms and used to flavor drinks, salads and desserts. Early on people discovered that the bitter orange blossoms when distilled would produce a liquid that can be enjoyed as is, or used in an abundance of desserts. In the U.S. one of its greatest uses was in a cooling cocktail, which seems to be enjoying a renaissance, Ramos Gin Fizz. In Morocco, a salad of grated carrots is moistened with olive oil and lemon juice, and then liberally doused with orange blossom water. It is finished off with toasted pine nuts and decorated with orange segments. Try it! Your guests will be forever trying to figure out the secret ingredient.

The price was fantastic and the quality is great. It has just the right smell and taste for use in baklava. I would recommend it to anyone.

The smell is too bitter, and not sweet enough... as the old A. Monteux Orange Flower Water sadly. Not too happy but oh well. I suppose the A Monteux man retired, and it is impossible to get anywhere online. Bummer I must say.

The bitterness overpowers the sweet, and I really do not recommend. Also, it isn't as fragrant in terms of potency as the A Monteux... Sad.

HORRIBLE. please do NOT buy this orange flower water in the blue bottle from france. it is NOT the MONTEUX. the bitter notes WAAAAAAY outdo the sweet ones. horrible. dumped down the drain. I let others smell it and they thought the same thing, so it was NOT just me.

UPDATE: i tried the cortas brand, and it is MUCH better...... from Lebanon. Do yourself a favor and don't waste this money. The cortas, although not the Monteux, is MUCH sweeter than this bitter pill. YUCK

I'm probably spoiled, but I discovered orange flower water from an amazing vintage bottle of Reese de Paris.

This one is definitely not as good. In general it isn't as rich and wonderful and nuanced. It also has a bitter flavor, which I suspect is because it was made from bitter orange blossoms. Depending on your tastes (and what you are making) you might like this. Orange water can legitimately be made more or less bitter, depending on the country and the purpose it is being used for.

Given that this product is advertised as coming from the bitter orange, I'm not taking off a star for the bitterness...just for the the overall flavor. The orange water I like best is smoother with a more intense orange flavor. The closest version I've found so far to the original Reese's that was so delicious is Essential Pantry Orange Blossom Water from chefshop.com, not on Amazon as of this writing. This version is also less bitter, which I prefer for most applications I currently use (lemonade, sweet almond drinks, cucumber and other salads, tagines) but I may find a recipe where the bitter is better.

Another issue I have, and for which I took off another star, is that it has potassium sorbate as a preservative. Label says "potassium sorbate (0.1%) as preservative." This is a common food preservative and "generally recognized as safe." However I try to ingest as few chemicals as possible, and I wonder if this preservative is part of the reason I don't find this water as tasty and smooth on the tongue.

In any case, to be fair, it's likely that many foreign imports have preservatives added and simply don't add it to the label. My fave (Essential Pantry) is imported from Morocco and does not list a preservative...but who knows...

This definitely has a bitterness that other orange flower water lacks. Very off-putting. And, the product is sold in a PLASTIC bottle. Who does that to a high grade aromatic product? Yuck. I found the Cortas orange water (blue label, clear glass bottle, from Lebanon) to be much better. I am using mine for Moroccan cooking in a Tagine.

If you are looking for a replacement for the no-longer-produced NEW Caswell-Massey Orange Flower Water (you can purchase bottles that have been sitting somewhere for a couple of years at steep prices ... ) CASWELL-MASSEY Orange flower WATER tonic recipe NEW, this is NOT the product. It has a very medicinal / bitter aroma, not what I've loved about C-M's product. I did read that folks use it for food / drink seasoning - thought I don't think I'd like THIS particular product in any food item (and yes, I adore "exotic" foods, am used to all types of seasonings). I am using it as a facial tonic, even though don't enjoy the aroma all that much. I spent the money, and it's as good as Witch Hazel in terms of toning / cleaning my pores. Sadly, what I had hoped for a good, sweet aroma, toner is not what I got. Guess I could try making the drinks everyone talks about in their reviews ... <smile> Good luck on finding substitute for C-M Flower Water. I will be getting similar items, and will post when / if I find a good replacement. PEACE ...

The real deal. Not this crappy, overpowered, bitter "orange blossom" extract you find everywhere, but fragrant and sweet-tasting orange water. Don't be suspicious of how cheap this looks... it's of excellent quality.
I use it to give an extra spark of flavor to sweet crepes, grogs, cocktails... try it too!
