UPDATE: i never actually used it...until a few days ago...I notice that the friction on the lower ball joint doesn't actually "give" when you loosen the knob. and, it doesn't actually tighten when you tighten the knob...and, each joint is sort of sticky, grindy, and crunchy. In other words, I can't trust this item to hold my expensive monitors. it's a paper weight now I guess. sadnes.
Evaluation: this baby is solidly built, works incredibly well, has a smooth action when adjusting the arms, and feels like it's going to last a LONG time. I imagine if it gets in dusty conditions there might be some cleaning and possible oiling involved in the future, but the key thing to note is I do see a long future with this piece of gear!
I'd never heard of Camgeeker before this purchase, but I will be back to look at more of their equipment in the future. I would definitely recommend this item, as it balances price (low) with quality of construction (high).
In the down side, the ball joints have a gritty feeling movement that is supposed to keep them in place. I don't know if I can trust my iPad with this setup. I will try some Locktite once I get it adjusted where i want it and don't need to change it. Just be aware that it might stay in place but if you bump it, it will drop and could damage your expensive equipment. Not a great idea to make it "magic" when some simple locking nuts would have been so much more secure.
Interestingly it really seems like the same manufacturer made both the Leegoal and Imorden arms. I would consider them interchangeable (other than their length, of course).
