B-hyve Network MeshingIf you want to use multiple B-hyve timers in different locations, network meshing (only available with B-hyve Hub) expands the strength of your signal, extending it to your entire B-hyve system. This allows you to effectively manage your entire yard while minimizing inefficient water use. |
Know the FlowThe built-in flow meter lets you know how much water you are using to water your plants, wash your car, or fill your pool. This allows you to water by volume, not just by time. B-hyve also controls watering by seconds, making it ideal not only for gardens, but also for hydroponics and greenhouse applications. |

Garden HoseNow that you've picked your timer, get a professional-grade hose that's durable and long enough to reach where you need to go. Get one hose per valve/timer. |

Product description
The B-hyve Bluetooth Hose Faucet Timer converts any of your outdoor faucets into an app controlled water source giving you complete control over your watering right from your smart device! Program your timer with our free Android or iOS B-hyve App, or use your computer with a Wi-Fi connection. Don't have your phone with you? Manual watering available at the press of a button. With B-hyve you no longer need to guess on how much water youre using. Our built-in flow meter lets you know how much water youre using, and how much you need to water your plants, wash your car, or fill your pool. It can even be set to water by volume, not just by time. Waters in seconds making it ideal not just for gardens, but also for hydroponics and greenhouse applications too. If you have multiple B-hyve timers, Bluetooth meshing allows the timers to communicate with each other to ensure they dont water simultaneously. Add additional smart valves to create multiple watering zones in your yard; these timers will network together to boost the signal strength without the use of repeaters. For Wi-Fi access and smart functions, pair with the B-hyve Hub (sold separately).

Some might feel one star is harsh but with a device like this when everything is being controlled by the app the app is a MAJOR part of the system. I bought the B-hyves to have more control over the timers I already have.
Orbit,
Why do you have to pick a zone when each timer IS it's own zone, confusing and pointless.
Why do you have to select the time duration by selecting a zone that doesn't apply to this watering system.
Why do you have no indication at the top on the home page that is where you select between the timers, only adds to the confusion.
Why can't you add as many start times for each program? I have to keep adding programs to add timers, there is no point to this. In my area I want to be able to water as many times a day as I want for as long as I want. THAT'S WHY I BOUGHT THE SYSTEM! There shouldn't be any restrictions in an app for goodness sake.
Why isn't there a simple manual control to just start watering, sometimes you just need to water a little extra. All of your other timers can do this simple function easily. But with this system I have go through some convoluted menu system and force it to turn on by testing it, or change the program then change it back. OK, I see you can water by pressing the icon at the bottom, randomly stabbing at the app seems to be the best way to understand it.
This app could be SO MUCH more than what it is. The device itself is nothing more than a valve with a bluetooth send/receive, a great deal of what we are paying for is the app to CONTROL the device.
A simple timer can do what this does a lot easier at half the cost, till the app is improved I'm not seeing any advantage of this system.
UPDATE:One of the timers started to malfunction, the valve opened up and would not shut off. Tried everything through the app, turning it on then off but it wouldn't shut off. The app for it's part seem to be working fine, it would try to shut the timer off and you can hear the "click" but it still stayed on. When I got the timer I could tell it was previously owned I think someone returned it and Amazon put it back on the shelf.
I have 5 of them now and I have a schedule and zone for each faucet. I have to switch to each faucet and program it as it's own device and there is no reference to the other device on the system until you switch to that device. There no common schedule screen. If you get the timing wrong then you may have more than one scheduled at the same time. This does not work for me because I don't have the water pressure to run more than one impact sprinkler at a time. I ran schedule 40 around the perimeter of my back yard and tee'd off the main where I put the valved and ran a short riser hose to the impact sprinklers.
Want to turn your 'system' off, you have to go to each device and turn off its schedule.
Other major defects in the app include NO Manual OFF button. You have go back to the manual screen and run the time down. That is real wtf moment.
Pairing is problematic; of the 5 unites only 2 paired the first time. I had to exit the program and deactivate the faucet and restart the pairing and setup on 3 of them. also kept having to reconfigure the WiFi. Speaking of which, these device are NOT WiFi, the hub is WiFi so you can program the device without being near them but they create a blue tooth daisy chain net so they can pretty far from the hub, but only via blue tooth. The talks to your router via WiFi and to the faucets via Bluetooth. So really the marking on the box that these are Wifi capable with a hub is not correct, this never a wifi connection to these devices.
I've often found myself in screens where the next button didn't work and there was no way out of the setup screen. Again exit the app and start over.
The app is pretty and the ability to take pictures of the Faucet/Zone is helpful but you have to take a picture of both. The picture for the Faucet/device does not transfer to the zone, so it's easy to get lost and promote the confusion.
I gave it two stars cause they answered phone, once I found the correct number, and the guy on the phone sounded as frustrated as I was and really tired of explaining all this.
There is a handy note in the box to call this number before you return it. Ahh - that's a clue! but that number has a recording that in a nutshell, after all the pleasantries, says to go to the website, thank you, goodbye....
There is no use case support documentation, in other words as we try to build systems out of these faucets, we are on own and the documents do no address these concerns.

The website is 100% broken. It displays bits of configuration and status about your active timers, but just always says "You timer is currently set to OFF", and I can't change the active timer.
The Android app is quite hard to use, but is actually functional. The biggest difficulty for me is how awkward it is to manage multiple timers. I stagger my timer schedules because the water pressure at my hose spigots is so low, but the app treats each timer as completely independent, so the "schedule" tab only shows the schedule of the active timer. I need to keep the coordinated schedule in my head.
Despite awful user interface, the Android app has never crashed on me, and the timers have never failed to go off on schedule.

1) This device does a hard shutoff (not slowly), meaning at the end of the timer it causes a loud water hammer bang. I solved the issue by adding an anti hammer cartridge and a couple of adapters. Since then it works fine.
2) I cannot use Alexa to control it via voice commands. Alexa can only control 1 Orbit device and that's currently my 6 existing station timer. If this is the only Orbit timer you have then you should be OK with Alexa.
3) The smart phone app controls each device independently of the other. Meaning to avoid accidently scheduling this device to be running at the same time as one of my existing 6 zones, I have to manually calculate when the 6 zone time will end (or is not running).
These last two issues are an easily solvable problem for Orbit. All they have to do is enforce each zone to have a unique name and treat all the devices on the account as one. Scheduling would be automatic and I would be able to say "Alexa, water zone 7 for 10 minutes".

1- The batterie last only few weeks so get a lots of AA for the summer.
2- The application could be simpler and better but i does the job.
3- The Canadian price on the bluetooth unit is great BUT the unit with wifi hub if farr to expensive
(amazon.ca = 150$ Canadian, amazon.com 66$ US) so order it form amazon.com
My first unit was defective but great customer service. (I received a replacement unit in few days)
The bluetooth connection in my case was on and off, so i bought another unit with wifi hub, MUCH better (no more disconnection)
Still it is a Great product

* You can only use it via app (found no way to write code to use for automation projects)
* It takes long (2 or 3 minutes) to open the tap from your phone (app take long to be ready, then you have to connect via bluetooth and then you can activate the tap remotely)
* The app force you to provide personal data (the postal address by example) that is not required by the app because for the bluetooth only it does not check the weather then they took my personal data and their device get activated even when is raining.
If they fix the button for manual activation and do not take personal data that is not required (in fact even if I have the wifi module that check the weather why do not just ask for the postal code?) I could feel I got that I pay for.
