This car seat is expensive. Very expensive. So expensive that we only have one seat and didn't purchase the fancy Orbiting base. There is no way I would have purchased a seat at this price EXCEPT that it was the only car seat currently on the market that does not contain chemical flame retardants and other harmful chemicals that are known to damage our health and to me this was reason enough to buy it. Graco and Britax will be manufacturing car seats containing fewer chemicals in the future, and hopefully they will be at a lower price point. If you are concerned about these kinds of issues, products that are Oeko-Tex certified are the way to go - they have been rigorously tested for harmful substances.
Other positives - we received our seat (red) in May and unlike another reviewer's experience, it was not damaged in any way, fortunately. The belts are a little tricky, but I like that they can be let out enough that you can put them to the side rather than seat your child on them and then dig them out from underneath her to then fasten them. I was worried about the seat being too upright, but she likes it and it hasn't been an issue at all. She seems very comfortable. I recommend it for those looking for a seat without chemicals.

-The rotation to get baby in/out is super awesome but the car seat needs improvement before they can offer this super expensive price tag.

-It has no "no rethread harness"
-Really really heavy seat (which is crazy to me as the company brags about it being the 1st convertible seat that can be placed on a stroller) I am 5'7 and very strong and my baby is 6 mos and 20 pounds. I couldn't imagine a smaller/not so strong mom lifting this with or without a baby in it.

-Doesn't come with a sunshade in which I thought it did but that is the older model (so if u do place the seat on stroller u have the sun beaming in your babies eyes) but is available for purchase for $30. I JUST PAID OVER $1200 FOR THIS WHOLE SYSTEM AND THE LAST THING I WANT TO DO IS GIVE ORBIT ANOTHER DIME.

-The seat is really upright so your baby will slump!!!! IT HAS NO RECLINE. I was told to try the rolled up towel. Again, another inconvenience on your part.

-it's bulky so it caused a blind spot in my SUV.

-Straps twisted my very 1st use!

-Overall there are many choices with added accessories like cup holder, recline, no rethread etc. for less $. I think Orbit needs to reconsider the product before they slap this sticker price on it. I will be returning this but I have yet to narrow down what seat to get. I do want a higher end seat not made in China (which aren't many).

We purchased the Orbit Toddler Convertible Car Seat G2 as the only option for our Honda Element. We had picked out a different rotating seat but when it came time to purchase that one was no longer being made. We had to make the investment in this seat and its rotating base (not included). Some things to note about our experience with this seat (please note, we have only used it rear facing in our 2007 Honda Element):
-It just barely works in the Honda Element. As it turns, it just clears the cover for the seat hinges in the side of the car. It will be interesting to see what happens as my son's legs get longer. The Orbit seat will not turn completely around unless the Element seat back is reclined. It will turn enough to easily put the child in and out of the seat from the car door.
-You will not be able to use a mirror to see your child in the rear facing position. It does not obscure my view in the Element but I could see that in some cars that may be an issue.
-I didn't have any issues with the quality of the seat or any parts. It was easy to install. We do not remove the seat so the weight isn't an issue for us. We have not heard any rattling or other noises when traveling, with baby or empty.
-We do not have any issues with the straps twisting. In fact, there are magnets on the edges of the seat to hold onto the buckles so they are out of the way when we take the baby in and out.
-My son seems to be comfortable in the seat. I feel good about how little his head can move from side to side. At 16 lbs he never slumped in the seat and the angle works fine for him.
-My son has had one blow out diaper in the new seat and the gray material cleaned up nicely. The materials also seem to do well in the heat...

My daughter loves this chair, and I love it because it allows me to even consider extended rear facing in my Mini Cooper.

My minor complaints are that it is rather bulky and often hard to handle and get into the back of my car, but the pros far outweigh the cons.

If you're reading this, you probably already know most of the pro/con debate so I will focus on how it fits in my Mini Cooper which is the BIGGEST pro for me.

The infant rotating base sits great in my 2007 Mini Cooper S and the seat also fits in rear-facing position with enough room for a small adult to sit in the passenger seat. It leaves about two "notches" spare for adjustment which is actually better than the infant version of this seat.

Getting the seat into the back of the car is a bit tricky but nothing that I, a rather small female, can't manage.

It does not rotate all the way, but it does rotate the greater distance around so that I can place my daughter in and buckle her up without having to stretch around the seat.

I CAN get the stroller part into my trunk, but it takes up the entire space so if you need to pack anything else, you'll have to use the free back seat.

A few negatives is that the seat is VERY large and partially obstructs your view out the rear mirror and completely obstructs whatever back side of the car the seat is on. It's also sized so that it's largely impossible to place any mirrors near the back of the car to let you view your child from the rear mirror.

Plane usage:
I recently used this seat on a plane trip and it worked just fine. The seat fit in the plane seat with only a bit of spillage into the next seat and the plane lap belt worked just fine in the forward facing belt channels. Only downside was it was big enough that the food tray could not be lowered enough to put drinks on.
