Revolutionary digital technology allowing digital displays of exact time and turns per day (TPD) are just the beginning. Truly unique is the photo-optic system that counts each cylinder rotation and automatically advances the rest position 30° after each rotation. The result is that watch accuracy errors caused by gravity are negated while any mechanical watch is on the winder. Set within the robust crystal glass sleeve enclosure, every nuance of the winder is fully visible. The digital TPD display automatically resets at midnight and several flashing blue LEDs add a dramatic visual effect. Operation is enabled by a supplied universal AC/DC power adapter.

Okay what you pay for this. You get the full motion of a Tourbillion watch winder for extremely low price.
It also has a futuristic appeal but will go in most any environment or decor.
I bought this Orbita Watch winder the latter part of 2012 and reviewed it here first quarter 2013.
It is still working without a hitch. I keep my Platinum Rolex, which I believe is the one of the heaviest watches on the market, on my Orbita winder and the watch keeps very accurate time.
This particular winder will wind any watch that I've used on it. Oribita Trourbillion watch winders have the ability to make any mechanical watch, in effect, a Tourbillon watch. Each cycle, or turn of the winder, rotates the watch 390° — resulting in 30° steps. After 12 cycles the watch has circumscribed a full 360°. This action cancels out the effect of gravity on a watch's balance wheel mechanism.
I'm about to buy the Tourbillion three head winder, something I should have done a long time ago.
It is a little expensive but you must weigh in the factor of, is my watch worth the winder cost and do I want my watch to keep excellent time and not half to be sent back to the watch manufacture to be refurbished and recalibrated.
Pros: Easy to use, programmable, unique looking, fairly quiet, displays number of revolutions and time, elegant and sturdy construction/packaging, reputable company.
Cons: Expensive, you cannot turn off the digital clock light, open on two sides, requires AC power.
The winder is very easy to use. It's also fairly quiet. Prior to purchase I was told that you could place it next to a night stand. I am very noise/light sensitive and would say that you would hear the winder if its close to you. I placed it on a dresser about 13 feet away from my head and its fine. You can still hear it moving but its very faint. As a comparison, when it turns it emits a sound slightly fainter than our cable box (Scientific Atlanta 8300HDC).
I'm also fairly light sensitive and prefer a pitch black room. It was easy to de-program the blinking/flashing blue LED's that come "standard" with the winder. I personally found them cheesy. The digital clock display remains on at all times. The revolution counter will remain on when your actually winding a watch. The led readouts are red and contrary to what I was told prior to purchase are fairly bright. However, I simply move a picture frame in front of the winder prior to going to sleep. I would also note that the displays both point up so unless your looking down at the winder you cannot see them.
One thing that was not clear to me prior to purchase was that the winder is open on the front and back. In researching the winder prior to purchase I assumed that it opened on the top. I believe an older Orbita Futura model may have opened from the top. However, you remove the drum from the front. Some people may find it annoying as allows dust to collect on the mechanism. It also presumably makes the winder louder as the mechanism is not enclosed. On the flip side the open mechanism permits non-reflective viewing of your watch and ease of drum insertion. The open back also permits you to connect the power cord. I listed the partially open construction as a con but some people might find it a positive aspect of the winder.
The winder is partially enclosed in a very attractive glass/crystal cover. It looks great and feels solid and heavy. I was a little skeptical prior to purchase about how it would "gel" with the surrounding furniture and items. Placed between the cable box and a French Empire (Napoleon on horseback) inkwell it actually looks just fine. Despite the light (please keep in mind I love a pitch black room at night) the displays are great. I enjoy knowing the number of revolutions and the digital clock has kept perfect time with the one on the cable box. Its a unique and modern look but if your willing to take a chance it actually can "work" with more traditional furniture.
After a few weeks of use I have had no problems and the winder has it has kept my watch perfectly wound. I also enjoy watching it turn my watch. Might seem a little strange but I think its pretty cool.
I did not purchase the winder from Amazon but paid a similar price. It comes in a fantastic box with a two year warranty. Included was a card that you could fill out and return with $50 for an extended 3 year total warranty. This seems like a fairly large amount of money for an additional year and I'm still deciding if I will take the extended warranty. As noted above this winder does not come cheap. However, since I was spending a significant amount of money on a watch I included the price of the winder in my watch budget. Having spent the last 10 years dealing with an automatic watch that I constantly needed to re-set I could never imagine owning another automatic watch without some type of winder.
