Product Description

The Order: 1886 is a deep, story-driven single-player experience that introduces players to a unique alternate history and a dark vision of a 19th century Victorian-Era London. It is the dawn of a new age, an age of scientific marvels, but underneath the dense London fog, in the shadows of the Industrial Revolution, enemies both old and new threaten to throw the city and the world into chaos. Watching over the city are humanity’s only protectors, an elite band of Knights known as The Order, and the outcome of this struggle will determine the course of history forever.

Where History and Myth Collide

Set in a rich, detailed world that fuses real historical figures and events with new fictions and twists on familiar myths and legends, The Order: 1886 presents a unique vision of Victorian-Era London never seen before.

Centuries of Conflict

In this alternate history, a dangerous foe known as Half-breeds emerged centuries ago. In response to this new threat, an elite order of Knights formed to protect humanity from this deadly threat. Strengthened by a mysterious liquid called Blackwater, the Knights of The Order are able to heal their wounds and extend their lifespans in order to engage this supernatural foe.

It is the year 1886, and through the dawn of the Industrial Revolution, humans have advanced technology to gain an advantage in this war. Now equipped with powerful weapons to aid in their struggle, The Order is starting to turn the tide against the Half-breeds.

A New Threat Arises

While the Half-breed threat is pushed back into the shadows, a rebellion emerges that threatens an already unstable peace. Tight security measures that amount to a near police state, combined with a widening gap between the rich and the poor, have left the citizens of London angry at those they perceive to be the cause of their woes. The Rebels’ ranks are growing, as is their boldness, as they declare an all-out war against The Order and the government oppression it represents. Now, the Knights of The Order must face threats on all sides as they struggle to maintain peace and order.

Danger Around Every Corner

Assume the role of Galahad, and engage both Half-breed and rebel as one of the most experienced Knights of The Order. Armed with a deadly array of advanced weaponry, utilize the third-person view and expansive cover system to float in and out of cover as you hunt your enemies.

The Right Tool for The Right Situation

Fire bolts of electricity to take out long-range targets with the Arc Gun, or rain down fire on enemies with the Thermite Rifle by dousing them in a cloud of flammable dust and igniting it with a superheated flare. The weapons of The Order: 1886 are all based on plausible science and technology.

Ahead of Their Time

Advances in technology have also helped The Order patrol the city and keep its citizens safe. Airships patrol the skies and are a constant reminder of the police state that controls Londoner’s lives.

Every member of The Order wears a wireless device to communicate with each other and the airships that patrol the skies. A variety of gadgets aid them in the work, such as the monocular that allows the Knights to see across great distances, signal airships via Morse code and more.

Filmic Vision

Immerse yourself in the gritty world of The Order: 1886 through the stunning, cinematic presentation made possible with realistic lighting and rendering techniques and a visual presentation that mimics the nuances and imperfections of actual motion picture cameras and lenses. The dirt on the camera lens, the dust in the air and the light passing through broken and boarded-up windows all make for a more realistic and believable presentation.

Rich Storytelling

The cinematic experience is furthered by the deep, sophisticated narrative, featuring full performance capture for characters and scenes. Seamless transitions between action and story sequences work together to bring the rich narrative, rife with conspiracy, intrigue and betrayal to life.

Characters

Sir Galahad

You play as Galahad, an expert tracker and hunter whose instincts and skills, developed over the years fighting Half-breeds, are legendary among members of The Order. Jaded and numb to the violence he witnesses day to day, Galahad is world-weary with a calm, cool, professional demeanor. Protégé of Malory and mentor to Isabeau.

Sir Percival / Sebastian Malory

Sir Percival is a mentor and long-time friend to Galahad, and one of the few Knights who can match Galahad’s strength and ability. One of the eldest Knights in The Order, he commands everyone’s respect and is ready to work outside the bounds of the law when a situation calls for it.

Lady Igraine / Isabeau D’Argyll

Under the tutelage of Galahad, Lady Igraine became the youngest member to ever be inducted into The Order. Now, as one of their most skilled and headstrong Knights, both she and Galahad share a mutual respect for each other.

Marquis de Lafayette

Recruited for his tactical genius honed during the American and French Revolutions, Lafayette serves as Sir Percival’s apprentice and has become an invaluable member of his squad. At times impetuous, his passion for freedom and liberty is only equaled by his love of women.

Neo-Victorian London

The Order: 1886 takes place in a painstakingly recreated Victorian-Era London, which features familiar places such as the Palace of Westminster, Mayfair, Whitechapel, the Crystal Palace, Big Ben, and the London Tube. But take a closer look. This alternate vision of London features new advances in technology brought about by an accelerated Industrial Revolution and the centuries-old conflict between Human and Half-breeds.

Giant airships patrol the London skies and electric trains traverse the city on elevated tracks above busy streets. Amid this alternate history, The Order remains a pivotal part of the kingdom with its council hidden deep within the halls of the government’s seat.

I was disappointed by the critical reviews this game received. Is it perfect or game of the year material? No, not really. However, it is an extremely solid game. While the gameplay is essentially a standard cover-based shooter, and doesn't really go beyond that, there is nothing wrong with it in my opinion. The Order doesn't attempt to redefine the shooter genre, nor did they ever claim that it would. It has been pushed as a cinematic game since the very beginning, and it does that beautifully. The graphics are like nothing I've seen before, especially on a console. The world and characters are incredible. The story is very interesting and was my main motivation for continuing the game, which doesn't mean it wasn't fun! It simply means that the story was so well written and invoked my curiosity so well, that I was driven through the game to find out what happened next, just as with a good movie or a good book.

To me, that's what this game is about. It's not trying to be something genre-breaking or completely revolutionary. What Ready At Dawn has made is an interactive movie with a fantastic world, story, and characters that is interactive and allows you to be part of that story. Some people complain that it's too linear, but again, it doesn't need to be open world. Open world might actually be detrimental to their story telling. When I play open-world games, I don't tend to care about the characters or I get side tracked and forget to continue the story (150 hours into Skyrim, and still haven't done the whole story) and this game forces you to learn about the characters, follow a set story and just enjoy the experience and story they wish to tell. To me, this was very refreshing as I was allowed to just sit back and let the game and writers tell me where to go and what's happening as opposed to trying to figure it out on my own like so many other games today.

Bravo, Ready at Dawn, can't wait to see what comes next in this world.

Just finished this amazing game. Let me preface this by saying that I've been waiting for this game since it was announced at E3 and that I loved Heavy Rain with it QTEs and what have you. I also knew going in that Ready at Dawn was talking about making The Order of game in different type periods so I wasn't upset by the "abrupt" ending. The game is linear but sometimes linear works and it's my opinion it worked flawlessly with this game. The graphics are stunning(and if everyone wants developers to stop focusing so much on graphics then stop comparing graphics between systems and just enjoy the game!), the game flowed from game to cut scene back to game smoothly. So smoothly at times I didn't realize I was in controlof Galahad for a few seconds sometimes. The story kept me interested and I really thought one thing but it turned out differently!

Everyone is entitled to their opinion but I think you should give this new IP a chance before bashing it. Wait for a price drop, get it used but if you own a PS4 you definitely should play this game.

The character's controls are clumsy. Hold down L3 to run while also using L3 to navigate, really? And it doesn't let you run all the time. The character movement is rigid. I felt I was moving around a stick figure and not a real person.

Combat was too easy and then with the werewolves too weird. The wolves ran off and let you shoot at them, then would run at you and then run away as if they were strafing you like a plane. Because the controls were so difficult, you did feel scared about being pounced on by the wolves at first because you couldn't easily see around your character.

Very scripted channel for your character to navigate. It wasn't an open world.

It's pretty much what you'd expect, the only thing that disappointed me is that the Steel Book case is VERY thin, to the point where if you apply enough pressure you could poke through it or bend it easily.

The game is relatively short, 8-12 hours on normal playthroughs IF you're looking for collectibles and taking your time, otherwise if you're rushing it can be shorter and more near 7-8. The game has no multiplayer features, and while the game looks downright gorgeous the game lacks in many ways. It's the most linear game I've ever played, most of the game consists of cut scenes and QTEs with shooting gallery sections here and there. the music and sound design is top notch and is well made.

It feels like the developers focused too much on the technology of the engine and the visual fidelity and then second handed the gameplay. I am not disappointed as the reviews with it being a 65% on metacritic is about what you'd expect, but I also believe that the developers didn't handle the backlash well. Here's hoping they learn for the inevitable sequel.

    Pros:
-Very nice graphics, sound design, best for console gaming as of 2015 (or until Uncharted 4 releases).
-The Statue is nicely designed, I feel like this alone was worth the extra $20 over the standard edition of the game.
    -Great Atmosphere and story.

    Cons:
-No replay ability, there is nothing you can do once you beat the game, collecting stuff is difficult because you can't keep track of them so you have to replay the whole game to get something you missed.
-You cant skip cut scenes in a game that is mostly cut scenes.
-Gameplay lacks, not a lot to do, super linear.
-Steelbook case feels cheaply made and is very bland, it doesn't even have the title on the spine which irked me greatly.
-Extremely short, I wouldn't recommend buying this unless you're a die hard fan (I don't know how this is even possible at this point) or collector wait for the bargain bin or a price drop of at least $20. Chances are this game will show up for free on the PSN+ in a few months-a year.
