On the instrumental concept album, The Order Of Control, not only does Bruce Bouillet not play a single wrong note but every note is infused with a passion of fiery intensity which grabs and commands your attention from the first note to the last.
Bruce is from the school of shredders who can play a million notes per hour. However, he prefers instead to choose his notes exquisitely to express himself. As he likes to say: "I want my instrumental albums to be uniquely me, and since I am not a singer, it provides the right vehicle to express myself."
I like the fact that he chooses to play with a purpose instead of shredding to show off. Bruce does not simply play the guitar. He makes it sing. The purpose of the album is to tell a story. With that in mind, Bruce successfully captures the right emotions, atmospheres and vibes in each `song' to tell an intriguing story of mass manipulation.
Bruce Bouillet is a fierce and intense guitar player whether he is on the attack, rampaging all over the place on Blind As We Watched, Deafening and Defiant or cruising on tracks like Giving Up The Ghost as well as A One Minute Warning. And when a man loves a woman and he knows how to play the guitar like Bruce does, it is only fitting that he serenades his wife on the touching closing track to show us his romantic side.
A special mention to the talented Glen Sobel on drums and Dave Foreman on bass who both get to shine throughout the album in their supporting role as all the instruments are harmoniously balanced in the mix with a very rich, deep and luxurious production handled expertly by Bruce and Dave.
