I really truly love this vacuum! I had a refurbished one that I purchased on ebay and used it for 10 years until it died. After doing some research, I decided to get another one. The U2000RB-1 has some nice updates - the longer piggy back cord, and the helper handle are two that come to mind immediately. It sucks up dog fur and dirt like crazy, and has no problems going from wood/tile flooring to carpet, and small throw rugs. I use the Enviorcare Vacuum bags, and they last a good two months each, and that's with three dogs, all being heavy shedders. Before purchasing on Amazon.com, I called Oreck customer service to make sure this was an authentic Oreck, and that the warranty would be honored. They do sell on several on-line discount websites, and the warranty is honored. Oreck lists this vacuum at $249.99 on their website, so the Amazon.com price of $189.00 and free shipping was a no brainer.

lightweight; yes, the mid height placed lift handle is well positioned, balanced and makes lift and movement, particularly on stairs with carpeting and hardwood very efficient. have owned several orecks. this has no headlights and I consider that an advantage. this is all in the pickup and this picks up extremely well. I don't get certain brands that tout hypoallergenic but you have to place the canister over a receptacle and dump. how does that not get particles into the air you are now breathing. this machine uses the old style bags and is another plus from my point of view. when you remove the full bag it is self sealing and can be removed and discarded without any airborne additions. The cord for me is the best feature. It is detachable and is forty feet. I can zoom around most of each floor of the house from one outlet. If I get too aggressive pulling it around the cord plugs into a cord emanating from the vacuum in a cradle. It is a commercial product, no frills, just work. If I want beauty, it's not a vacuum cleaner I shall admire. I like to do this cleaning stuff really. And this was worth the very reasonable price paid.

After reading several reviews, I was concerned that this Oreck would not be as good as my original Oreck which was lost in our flooded basement. Some reviewers wrote about the loudness and difficulty pushing. I find this vacuum's noise level very tolerable - certainly no louder than my previous one. I don't know about others, but this one almost pulls itself. The arthritis in my hands make many things hard to do ... I could no longer use my Rainbow. That was the reason for the first Oreck purchased. Vacuuming isn't difficult at all now, and I would purchase again. Good price, ease of carrying up and down stairs, fantastic cord length, works beautifully, quick shipping ... It's all good.

This is a no frills cleaner and is light weight to lift but don't let that fool you this thing is an animal of a beast on cleaning. It lifts the pile of the
carpet and deep cleans better than any other vacuum I have ever used. After I used it four times the bag was about 1/2 full so I decided
to put on a new bag. And that is where my problem started. When I bought this vacuum I also bought a pack of 25 extra bags. And not
knowing that all oreck bags were not the same. The ones I ordered were blue and was labeled that they would fit my commercial vacuum.
However the bag that came with the vacuum was light green when I changed it with one of the blue ones I instantly lost 1/2 of it's suction.
I thought some thing had clogged the system after I checked every thing for a restriction and found nothing. That's when I dug deeper into the
part number of the original green bag. What I found it was hypo allergenic and they sell them on Amazon
For a pack of 25 their part number is PK800025DW.... (wright this number down!!!) Make sure they have DW on the end of their part number
and they are light green!!!

So I ordered a pack of them after I installed one of them the suction returned like it was when it was new. I will be returning those blue
bags. Amazon should state what bags that work best with the vacuums instead of offering a discount on a pile of bags that doesn't
work.... So save a headache and get the right bags to start with.
Also I checked on the net and found several sites that sell any part you will ever need to keep your oreck vacuum repaired.
This is a big plus if you are thinking of buying them to use in the lodging business or other commercial use.

I recently spent entirely too much time researching price versus performance of vacuum cleaners after being tired of spending $200 at big box stores and having to replace units every 2-4 years. I was on a mission. Admittedly, I had previously never bothered to shop around because I thought all vacuum cleaners were the same. I was wrong.

I was immediately delighted to read reviews on here detailing how Orecks Have lasted several years, including the span of 25 years.

Before doing this research, I was unaware that it was possible to buy commercial grade vacuum cleaners without buying in bulk.

The endurobelt was also a factor in my purchase, as this is usually the first component to fail. Five years on a belt before failing is unheard of, and the price difference between units without it was only about $30. No brainer.

I never thought I would say this, but vacuuming using this unit was a pleasure!

It is super light. It is actually easier to use than previous models that had all the bells and whistles as well as manually-adjustable height. You do not need the extra weight of headlights. Just use room lights.

I found myself never using attachments on previous vacuum cleaners. They had added extra weight and also routed the vacuum power such that suction was diminished. This is not the case with this unit. It was able to effortlessly pick up dirt better than any other unit I have ever used.

Just as salient: using filter bags. My previous units were bagless models, and I hated them. Emptying them resulted in Dust and particles getting everywhere. Cleaning the container was a chore because debris got stuck in tight spaces, which meant reaching in with my hand and touching God knows what.
