I have been buying this for several years. 95% of the time it is very good. They either have some quality control problems, or something else happens within the distribution process (it gets hot and then cold or something). Today i got a "bad" one and it was so disgusting I dry heaved. I shook it up, opened the carton, and took a big swig. The normally smooth beverage had chunks of sour curd-like pieces in it. It was so gross. I would love an explanation of what it was that spoiled, and potential reasons why. The other "bad" ones over the years were simply changes in the formula that i did not care for; this one was something different altogether and I am nauseated. Pic of the spilled beverage attached.

As a loyal Orgain product, I receive montly shipments in various flavors. It seems that there is SERIOUS quality control issues with this product. The last two shipments in Creamy Chocolate Fudge flavor have been horrible to say the least. You can imagine how disgusted I was when, instead of the smooth product, I felt something in my mouth. When I spit the "something" out I was outraged to find a dead fly !!! This incident happened TWICE with two seperate shipments. I feel sick to my stomach and just the thought of this makes me want to throw up. I would normally have given this product a 5 star rating, however due to this hideous incident, I am forced to give only one star (or no star). I will NOT be placing any new orders for this product until I am promised that Orgain quality control issues have been resolved. I decided to write this review to protect future customers from experiencing the same disgusting incident that I did. This is a serious contamination issue, which can lead to health & dysentery problems. Orgain, please check into this immediately.

Could Be Better...

I've been drinking Orgain for the past 6 years and hate writing this negative review, but I must vent. I love that Orgain used to take the hunger feeling away (not so much this past year - protein content?), while at my slave job. It's organic, has a fairly low amount of sugar, which I think could be less IMO, and all that good stuff that is not in Boost, which I drank 10 years ago before I woke up. Orgain is a terrific idea one of which needs to be more consistent. I have found over the years that I may get an off tasting batch as I did recently, (two cases in fact expiring around the same time in 2018 that tasted like stale fruit loops milk), spoiled contents, yes, sour milk, and some have had clumps. Now when I open after vigorously shaking, I take a tiny sip after smelling 5 times to make sure the contents are not sour. Yes, I have taken a huge sip with a straw only to realize that it's sour. I have complained to Amazon a couple of times and received refunds. I have also notified the company a few years back, who really seemed to care, and it took approx 6 weeks to have a replacement sent.

The bottom line is the company MUST have better quality control and perhaps, seriously consider getting rid of the milk protein in their product! They also need to seal up the container without capturing too much air, which bloats the container and contributes to the spoilage (sometimes you can't shake the contents so much due to the air). I wish Orgain would read the reviews and create a massive operation in perfection. It stresses me out to think of not purchasing, and may consider trying the powder - not sure yet as someone posted a review of a potential fake product. If you are new to Orgain, DO NOT HAVE ORGAIN SHIPPED IN THE SUMMER if you want to spare yourself the trauma of a mouthful of sour...!

This product is smooth without that unpleasant bitter/sour aftertaste typically associated with protein shakes.

This was reccomend by my doctor friend who takes the quality of the ingredients, and organic foods very seriously. He got me off Muscle Milk which in all honesty used to upset my stomach and cause some unpleasant experiences.

This product is far nicer to sensitive stomachs than most others, product is sweet without being overly sweet, smooth and creamy, with a chocolate flavor so strong i think I am drinking a creamy chocolate bar.

Like all products you want to check and make sure you didn't get spoiled product, if it comes off sour on first taste TOSS IT it's gone bad, if it's chunky DON'T DRINK IT. I personally haven't had it happen other than 1 carton turn sour the other 19 were fine.

If you are looking for a better product that's organic and doctor recommended, then give it a try personally only had chocolate because i really like it, i may try another soon.

Love the taste.creamy and smooth..not chalky! The price is much better than in my local supermarket, CVS or Walgreens!

I have one for breakfast. And it's filling...just enough calories to carry me to lunch in the mid-afternoon! It's also a very good filler the on-the-go quick snack!

I’ve been looking for a shake that doesn’t have Stevia, monk fruit, and artificial sweeteners. It’s been a long, hard journey but the cholocate fudge is NOT gagging sweet, no bad aftertaste, and is delightful mellow.

A meal replacement shake isn’t going to taste like a homemade milkshake but this is the best I’ve had outside the Isagenix Chocolate shake. We all have different taste buds but this shake works very well for me.

Yes, they use organic cane sugar and brown rice syrup. It also has inulin but it’s used for the prebiotic and fiber benefits, most likely. But this was an acceptable trade off for me. Artificial sweeteners give me digestive problems and Stevia and monk fruit taste and aftertastes are quite off-putting to me.

Wish it had a little more protein but I can easily enjoy a hard boiled egg or a piece of meat with this when the need arises.

It’s a bit pricey but for on the go, it’ll be perfect. Going to try the unflavored protein powder tomorrow. Looking forward to trying that product now that this was a success. Might actually get my money out of these products.
