What is up with Amazon and these 3rd party sellers? They just let people sell any fake/old/expired product? This is my second pregnancy and I have gone through at least 5 jars of this stuff over the course of several years. It works great and has a light lavender scent. The most recent jar I purchased smells like Indian curry. It is horrible and there is no way it's the original. I'd never buy this on Amazon again. If you want the real deal find it in person.
I’ve tried out 4 different belly butters and unfortunately none of them hit on all marks. I’ve rated Burt’s bees mamma bee belly butter, Honest company’s organic belly balm, palmers cocoa butter belly butter and earth mamma’s body butter and belly oil. I rated the belly butters on smell, moisture, ease of use and texture
The overall winner was: Burt’s bees mamma bee belly butter but read on to see the review of this product followed by the others.
Honest company organic belly balm: This product is a tough one for me; moisture wise this product knocks the others off the block. I’d apply it at night and my skin still felt soft and supple, definitely made me feel like I only needed to apply it at night. Unfortunately I think that comes from it’s texture which is a lot like Vaseline. Its really oily and I needed to wear an old shirt to keep it off everything else. also the smell, oh man the smell. This product has a very medicinal smell that kind of made me queasy. Smell: 0/4 moisture: 4/4 use: 2/4 texture: 1/4
Burts bees: all and all I love this product it has a nice creamy consistency to it and it doesn’t have a sticky feeling. The smell is nice and subtle which for me is a big deal I didn’t have a lot of nausea during my pregnancy but man did smells send me running to the bathroom. The big downside for this product is that it didn’t seem like the moisture would last through the night and I’d have to reapply in the morning and again around lunch time. Smell: 4/4 moisture: 2/4 use: 4/4 texture: 3/4
Palmers cocoa butter belly butter: This was my husband’s favorite of the 4. It has a strong coco butter smell and is very moisturizing. unfortunately it is a little difficult to use because it’s kind of hard. Eventually we found that if we cut it in half so that we could get a chunk out of the container to rub on my tummy that it was much easier Smell: 3/4 moisture: 4/4 use: 2/4 texture: 2/4
Earth mamma’s body butter and belly oil: This product was pretty different from the others in that it was a 2 part process. That said it has a nice light citrus smell and although it has 2 steps the pump bottles made it easy to apply directly to my belly. The big draw back is that it didn’t seem to stick around for very long and I kept wanting to reapply it. however it was nice for those winter days when I though I needed a little more and it doesn’t leave any kind of sticky feeling.
This rub makes your belly shiny and slippery and if you don't want your hubby to touch you, it works great 😂 This always made my sleep shirt stick to me. But I truly feel like it did a great job moisturizing. It smells like essential oils which I personally do not enjoy. And I still got stretch marks! But this product is all natural and does a good job
I started using this belly balm when I was 3 months pregnant and now I am a little over 5 months. I can't say that this has prevented stretch marks, but so far I have none. I was a little taken back by the size of the container because it really doesn't seem like very much. But as the other reviewers have said, a little goes a LONG WAY. The consistency is kind of greasy, but rubs in pretty well. The main reason that I am giving it 3 stars is the smell. When I was having morning sickness, I couldn't even stand to use this because it stinks so bad. I'm sure every nose is different and pregnancy does weird things to your senses, but this could have a much better smell to it in my opinion.
This is the second review of a 'second-time purchase' I'm writing today - the point being that I've come back for more of this product since my first jar got done. I use this at night and Burt's Bees Mama Bee for during the day - both great at keeping the moisture levels intact at a time your skin is getting stretched and potentially itchy. The Honest Company's belly balm has a lovely herby-lavender smell and a texture that's slightly lighter than Vaseline. Makes me want to look into buying other products by the Honest Company (maybe)!
I'm not sure how true the claim on this balm being able to "helps visibly reduce the appearance of stretch marks" since I've only used this for like three days, but, I will say that I really love this product because it's highly moisturizing!! I'm currently 33 weeks pregnant, and I used this several times a day and definitely helps with my itching pregnant belly! It's got a vasaline- like texture, so it does make your clothing slightly greasy, but not as greasy if you were to actually use Vasaline. Due to its texture, it moisturizes a hell of a lot better than Shea butter lotion! I've used it on other parts of my body too, almost in lieu of lotion at this point. I definitely recommend this balm for moisturizing purposes!
31 weeks and i have been using religiously morning and night and don't have any sign of stretch marks yet! I've upped my use of it from only putting it on when i get out of the shower to also morning and night time. i do notice my belly itches and it relieves the itching so well! i don't mind that its greasy cuz i know its probably working! the smell has definitely grown on me. i think all ladies should use this stuff because stretch marks look so painful and would make me so down on myself if i did get them. it keeps my skin so soft. and if i can go all the way with no stretch marks i will be the HAPPIEST MAMA.
I get stretch marks easily. Heck, I have stretch marks all over my thigh/ butt area from puberty and life. My mother-in-law gave me this belly balm when I was 3 months pregnant. I've used it almost every day (just got my third jar of it!) since Christmas, and have NO NEW STRETCH MARKS. I am now 32 weeks, have gained 35 lbs (mostly in my belly), gone up several bra sizes, and nothing. Nada. Zip. Sometimes I even put a little on my face, including my lips. Love this stuff, and highly recommend it!
