Let me preface this by saying that my wife and myself have been readers of Daisy's website for quite some time. While usually if we needed additional information prior to purchasing a product we would take a gander at reviews and whatnot in order to figure out how it performs, it wasn't the case with this book.

Would say we 'took a leap of faith', but to be honest, we expected solid work by Ms. Luther, and we were not disappointed!

Having run a website for a bit, we know it takes a lot of hard work and dedication to continue to hammer out incisive and meaningful work during times like these, and this dedication the author has is shown in this write up is the top-notch quality that readers of her website are used too.

There are ample recipes for canning a variety of dishes and such. Upon giving this book to my wife as a X-mas gift, my wife absolutely LOVED it. In fact, just yesterday we canned the Hungarian Goulash [first time trying such, and enjoyed it!] and soon we are going to follow another recipe. We look forward to following recipes and tweaking some based on some health concerns of ours.

The book is easy to ready, but very precise in its recipes. All in all this book belongs in every prepper's library, or anyone who is interested in canning organic food. Be it a beginner, or a veteran to canning, there is something here for everyone.

Hopefully she continues to follow through with her work, be it via the website, books and whatnot because she IS making a difference.

This is really a great resource for people who want to learn how to can food. The first part of the book is instruction and an introduction to canning. It is accurate, easy to understand, and written in an engaging, fun to read style that is “pure Daisy”. If you are intimidated at the thought of learning to can, this book will help you have the confidence to give it a try! You will learn what equipment you need and how to use it safely and properly. The book is full of great recipes to help you get started as well. She covers simple things like canning common vegetables as well as jams, relishes and condiments, soups, meats, and “meals in a jar”. We’ve found several recipes in this book that we are excited to try, one of which is the raspberry jalapeno jam! I was very glad to see that Daisy included “meals in a jar” in this book. One of the greatest things about canning these is being able to have a meal ready as fast as you can heat it up. When the whole family is out working in the barn or garden and supper preparation gets neglected, it is sure a blessing to be able get a hot meal on the table in a short amount of time.

I feel confident recommending this book to beginning canners. It will get you off to a great start and give you some great recipes to try. Before you know it, you’ll be running out of pantry space and storing jars under your bed.

I received The Organic Canner as a gift. Daisy provides tasty and healthy recipes to can food in a healthy and non-gmo way. The book is well organized. The recipes and directions are easy to follow - even for a rather inexperienced canner like myself.

Meals in Jars is a GREAT idea. All of us have those days when we get home late, don't feel well or the power goes off. It is so nice to be able to just warm up (over the oven or a wood burning stove) a healthy meal and it is ready in just minutes.

Canning your own food ensures we know what is put in it. We can avoid the chemicals, etc. Canning produce and meat when it is on sale or in season is common sense and saves money.

I have tried the Autumn Garden Stew. (recipe on p211-212) It is delicious! My husband really likes this. We have made three batches of this stew already.

I also liked the illustrations. The young illustrator did a fine job.

Great addition to any cookbook collection! I found the recipes great compared to in most canning books. I prefer simple and low or no sugar recipes of which this contains, I loved the style in which the book is written. I will most likely toss out all my other canning books now.

I pulled this book out yesterday to check on how to can applesauce. The information inside is good especially if you are new to canning or have forgotten exactly how long something needs to be in a hot water bath or the pressure and time in a pressure canner.

I love Daisy's articles that I've read on her site and reposted on other sites like SHTF Plan. This book did not disappoint. I read the entire book and tried a few of the canning recipes. I'll use it a lot more when the garden is giving me more than I can feed the family. I've been canning for over 40 years and love when a book can teach me something new.

I recently read through The Organic Canner by Daisy Luther. I was already a Daisy fan after reading her book The Primed Pantry, so I was hoping this one also measured up. I have to say not only was I not disappointed, but I was absolutely thrilled with this book! I already l-o-v-e canning so any book about canning really kinda hooks me right way. This book is no exception, but it’s definitely more than just a “how-to-can” book. Well, I should say those instructions are in there too, but what I really enjoyed was the ‘beyonds’ as I’ll call them. One thing I love about Daisy, is the way she writes. The tone and verbiage is real, informal and down to earth. I for one, really appreciate that because it makes you feel like your right there talking with a friend. No worry newbies, she’s got you covered with the different equipment it takes, altitudes, what to pressure can and what to water bath can it’s all there in the “Canning 101” section. Love it and Highly Recommend it for Everyone !!!
