Organic Instrumentals is yet another great release from Michael Landau showcasing his amazing use of sweet guitar tones to create unique instrumental guitar music. Unlike some of his contemporaries, Michael Landau avoids the guitar hero vibe and instead focuses his talents on creating seemingly understated pieces of music that play to a deeper level. The guitar tones he uses are brilliant and his mature composition skills will keep you hearing new things each time you spin this disc. I have always been a fan of what Michael Landau has added to music by other artists in his role as guitar session legend and now he has an excellent solo album that really captures his unique style. Despite the fact that Michael Landau may never rock out as much as his session partner in crime Steve Lukather, Organic Instrumentals is highly recommended to fans of virtuoso guitar playing focused on achieving the elusive ultimate tone.

i waited long enough. had to buy this. i think it's his best work since "tales". each song stands on its own, yet brings you into the next track. definitely not over-produced, yet not rough. just like the title says, it's organic. although i can listen to the whole cd without skipping any tracks, i have to say my favorite is "big sur howl". but, every composition is top-notch, with excellent performances from all the cats involved. definitely buy this cd. if i could give it more than 5 stars, i would!

I have been a fan of jazz fusion for many years. This was my first time purchasing a Michael Lanau CD, though I have heard him play on many other CDs. I recommend this CD. This CD was amazing. It included a list of great band members too. I prefer guitar and bass which seems to be one of the highlights of this CD. Good job Michael...keep on playing and recording CDs.

The addition of an organ to the mix gives this album a different flavor from the classic ML "Tales from the Bulge", but it's a good flavor. I'm not sure what makes them "organic" but these instrumentals have all the great Landau traits- angular chords, surprising melody twists, killer guitar tones and of course great bass and drum performances. If you like Landau, you need this one.

Beautiful songs, very diverse, most of them build perfectly. This is not a shredders record by no means, but an artists record - the songs were not created for the purpose of soloing, but for the purpose music and music alone. Landau should be proud of this effort!

A phenomenal guitarist , and also a solid song writer - Landau delivers ! He has a unique place among brilliant guitarists . His style is Bluesy-Jazzy -Folky ( he tours with James Taylor sometimes ), with his own beautiful chord work . Not an 'in-your-face' effort, but rather , an album of nuance, simmering lead lines, and tremendous power !!!

I had high expectations for this CD, and I bought it "unpreviewed" because of my prior experience with some of Michael Landau's other works. This CD however, bored me to tears. I don't feel it shows off his abilities as a guitarist, and the whole CD has a sleepy (almost lazy) feel to it in my opinion. Pass this one by unless you are just a Landau fanatic and collect all his works.

micheal landeau like robben ford has great finesse on his instrument, but like many of the ace guitarist's recordings which I own the listener is offered up parts of ideas (not fully explored nor developed),insufficient to reveal a deep musicality. Like many instrumentalists of his obvious skills, it would likely be a very good idea to climb out of the woodshed and employ this same commitment to the difficult/rewarding study of composition. After all, Music has to be considered a serious and wonderful form of expression, often simply overwhelming to my mind, but masterful playing, even virtuosic playing is not enough to complete the job the musician has set before himself. The magical combination of the two is what is sublime. Thank you sincerely, Richard Lycette
