One cup (165 grams) of mango provides nearly 70% of the RDI for vitamin C — a water-soluble vitamin that aids your immune system, helps your body absorb iron and help with growth.

Mango is good source of polyphenols — plant compounds that function as antioxidants. It has over a dozen different types, including mangiferin, catechins, anthocyanins, quercetin, kaempferol, rhamnetin, benzoic acid and many others. Antioxidants are important as they can protect your cells from free radical damage. Mangiferin is sometimes called a “super antioxidant” since it’s especially powerful.

I purchased this for its nutritional value, and use it in fruit and milk substitute smoothies. I mix with other flavors by this brand, combining the various fruit and vegetable powders. It is also delicious as a cold and sweet tea, along with a spoonful of Manuka honey. If making a tea, the powder dissolves nicely; in cold water there are clumps when stirring. For tea, I suggest heating the water first, then mix the powder, then cool. In smoothies, there is no problem with clumping if using a blender.

I have one complaint ... the spoon's handle (in all of the packages, as I have purchased many varieties by this brand) is very short, meaning I have to put my entire hand into the package to grab the spoon. Therefore, I am left with powder on my entire hand. The smaller varieties aren't as bad and I'm left with powder on my fingers. I suggest the company place long handle spoons in bags. Better yet, separate the long handled spoons from the pouches.

Other than the spoon complaint, the product(s) are delicious and appear to be shelf stable.
