Here's What We Bring To The Table
At Organic Valley, we're all about exceeding expectations. You can count on your buttermilk having the insightful touch of farmers who care about the environment and simple, organic ingredients. When you respect nature, it returns the favor.
The Wonderful World Of Buttermilk
When you hear buttermilk, your mind probably goes straight to delicious, fluffy pancakes; but in reality, this liquid offers so much more! Organic Valley cultured buttermilk can be used in a variety of recipes. Aside from adding a subtle richness to everything it touches, buttermilk can also be used as a coating for your favorite protein, such as poultry or fish. You can even use this low fat buttermilk as a base for your next soup, salad dressing or marinade.
Our Commitment To Organic
Organic isn't the easiest way to make food, and it's not the fastest way, either. But we believe it's the way it needs to be done. That's why we never use antibiotics, synethic hormones, toxic pesticides, GMOs or artificial ingredients. To us, organic is a simple philosophy: we farm in harmony with nature.
The Pasture-Raised Difference
Before our organic buttermilk makes it to your kitchen, it comes from pasture-raised cows. That's why Organic Valley buttermilk tastes rich and pure. Because it all starts with cows living on a proper diet of grass, just the way nature intended.
But Where's The Butter?
Something not many people realize is that there isn't actually any butter in buttermilk. It was actually first made from the liquid leftover after churning butter. What we know and love today is a nutritious beverage that's rich in flavor but with fewer calories than whole milk or cream.
A Helping Of Calcium
While buttermilk is often valued for its use in baking and cooking, it also shines as a source of calcium. Each serving of our organic buttermilk contains 25% of your daily value of calcium.

At the time of my writing this review, the top two reviews are negative saying this product is thin and runny and flavorless. The buttermilk I received is thick and delicious - perfect for drinking and perfect for baking. I will definitely be buying this again.
A side note - it even rinses off the glass better than other brands, though I'm not sure why.
A google search revealed that buttermilk lasts 2-3 weeks. Ideally 2 weeks for best flavor but 3 weeks is still usually safe unless you see good signs that indicate otherwise. And they aren't wrong. I made pancakes multiple times from this carton.
