So you want to get organized? Well, I am so glad you are considering my book to help you on this path. I can tell you this: if there is a will there is a way. ANYONE can get every area of their life organized by following the goals and tips in Organize Now!
I wrote this book because I feel that there are too many "long-winded, novel-like" books about getting organized. I know from being a Professional Organizer (for 10+ years) that when people are overwhelmed by clutter they don't want to waste time reading, they want to get it done! They hire me because they want me to Tell-Them-What-To-Do (as quickly and painlessly as possible). This book does just that. I have left out the fluff and written a step-by-step plan to get YOU organized. Organizing is my passion but my mission is to help each of you clear the clutter so that you may start living the life you dream about.
Best of luck!

This book is formatted like a workbook. The chapters are brief and each one includes a checklist of the week's goals for organizing the specified area, a list of tips, a section for writing down notes, and another checklist for keeping it organized once it is done with monthly, half-year, and once a year suggestions.
For someone who is overwhelmed by the organization process and needs to take it a step at a time with specific suggestions, this is a good resource.
This book is broken down week by week in discrete subparts, such as organize your email or organize your car. You can start at any point (I started on week 17, organize your car) and it goes through step by step, THIS IS WHAT YOU NEED TO DO! You can check the items off one by one and there is a place to list additional items that are pertinent to you. There is then a list of items on HOW to stay organized for that particular area. Many of them I have put on the calendar to keep me in line, others are just habits that needed to be formed. Often there were items I hadn't even thought about.
By breaking it down into smaller parts, and adding a checklist, it is much easier to tackle items and see progress. The car only took a couple of hours and then I was able to do another project. Seeing progress is very motivating!
There are additional weeks provided that probably don't apply to everyone (organize a move, organize a new baby) but that very well could come in handy.
This is a book I will certainly use, all the others are going off to the used book store!
I have read through many of the chapters in this book. Each one is a week's worth of "to-do" checklists, and is designed to organize one area each week. You can do the chapters in the order they appear in the book, or you can skip around and do them in the order you choose.
I think this book will be one of the keys to getting my house, and life, organized. The checklists should make it easy to get things in better shape. I can focus on one mini-task until it is complete, helping me achieve my goal of getting our home and lives into the shape it should be in. I can just tell myself that I can't move on to the next task until that box is checked. Any ideas on other tasks can be added to the list. This book should serve as excellent guidance along my purging journey.
I do think that some of these tasks will take less than the allotted week. However, in my house, some of these areas will take more than a week to get through. I think it will be harder for families with parents who work, in or out of the home, to get each area done in seven days. Some of these areas are quite large for just one week. I think, though, that it will all even out in the end. My goal is to finish the entire book in 56 weeks or less, even if a few areas take two weeks to complete. Some areas will be easier for me. For instance, I already meal plan and have a system set up for grocery lists, coupons, etc. I can mark this area off fairly easy. My bedroom closets, however, will take some real effort to overcome.
All in all, this book is worth buying. The easy-to-follow format and having each area broken down into individual chapters makes this look easy.
I notice that it is coming out in a paper back. It would still be a great book to have, but I really do prefer the spiral bound.
