ESSENTIAL READING, ONE OF THE BEST BOOKS EVER WRITTEN...BUT TYPE IS TOO SMALL...

This is a five-star book, if five is the upper limit--it's one of fifteen or twenty of the very best, most important books ever written, BUY IT, READ IT, but do yourself a favor, DON'T BUY THE AMAZON PRINT-ON-DEMAND EDITION (look at the title, it should have two commas--grammar demands at least one--the print-on-demand edition doesn't have any). BUY A DIFFERENT EDITION. This edition of the book is set in 8 or 8.5 pt type (very small); compare the number of pages to other editions and you'll see what's going on. It's so small it's very hard to read. What's the point? If I'd looked at the page count, I would have known, but this is so unusual, the seller should have explicitly stated the book's type size.

You need a magnifying glass to read this edition! The font size is absurd! Spend the extra couple of dollars and buy a good edit

I want to clarify I am reviewing this particular edition; not Engels' book! The Origin of the Family, Private Property, and the State is an inter-disciplinary classic that is a must-have in any personal library. However, *this* edition is nothing more than someone who copy-pasted an online version of Engels' book into a self-publishing platform, and printed the book in what seems to be size 3 font! The font is so small you literally cannot read it without a magnifying glass! I am not joking! Spend the extra couple of dollars and buy a good edition.

Arm chair anthropology at its finest. I'm sure the field has marched on but this was still a very interesting read, and pretty accessible, though some of the cultural references are so old you need Wikipedia to get the meaning.

The material is awesome, but the text has so many typos, it gets annoying. I usually don't mind a few, but there are so many, its enough to complain about. The publishers fault.
