I’ve been ordering this ghee butter for a while now and was really happy with the taste and quality. For me it was a 10 star product. It’s probably one of the best ghee butters out there quality wise.
All of a sudden I received a different looking jar (with same label though) that was made of plastic (jar and lid). It smelled differently, bottles were very hot as the box was standing in heat next to my door for a while before I took it inside.
Now here is my problem with the new plastic packaging. Warm butter only helps the plasticizers (in the plastic jars and lids) leach into the food, and along with all the other chemical residues and additives, make for an incredibly toxic product.
This is especially sad as this butter is really high quality, but as soon as it is being put in plastic jar vs glass jar, this is no longer safe to consume.
The plasticizers bond to the butter (specifically butter and any fatty substance unlike anything else). The consumer is then eating “buttery” plastic… which is why butter packed in plastic is one of the most toxic foods you can purchase.
I am shocked by this change. Company probably decided to save big time on the shipping, but I’d rather save on my health. I know that it’s more problematic to ship glass, and may seem not so eco friendly (by using more plastic wrap, etc), but I also know many other companies that found a lot of eco friendly ways to solve this problem by not putting other people’s health on the line.
I am very disappointed. This was my favorite butter brand out these. Not anymore.
