Alot of people don't realize what this album started. This album basically gave the Southern sound a major boost in the arm and brought it to the attention of the rest of the U.S. This album is a great mix of R n B, gospel, R n R and the blues naturally. Bonnie's voice was a breath of fresh air, a voice not accustom to being heard on a R n R station, but that was the beauty of FM back in the late sixties, they were alot more open to hearing and playing what was good, not just the hits.

This album was a boost for Leon Russell too, you can hear his distinctive piano and know he had a lot of influence on the production of this album. I remembering seeing D @ B live on their debut tour,I can't remember who they opened for, but I remember seeing this guy with a beard and wearing a top hat playing the piano, he blew me away - Leon Russel was his name. He followed this by playing on Dave Mason's first solo album after leaving Traffic and his sound is very pronounced on that album.
Eric Clapton after hearing D @ B, he was so influenced by them that he truely wanted to join this band and did for a tour later on and they recorded that and it's available - Delaney and Bonnie On Tour with Eric Clapton.
Without the rythym section of D @ B - Carl Radle and Jim Gordan -you wouldn't of had Joe Cocker's Mad Dogs and Englishmen (put together by Leon Russel including Bobby Keyes and Whitlock on horns) or Eric Clapton's Derek and the Dominoes (along with Duane Allman). As you know Bobby Keyes went on to play with the Rolling Stones and has been there for about 30 years now. On Eric Clapton's first solo effort, if you read the band members, you'll notice that it's Delaney and Bonnie and friends.

Amazing recording with Delaney (g), Jim Keltner (d), Jim Price, Bobby Keys (horns), Bobby Whitlock (kb), Leon Russell (p), Carl Radle (b), Jerry McGee (g). Very funky early Southern rock in
L.A. - soon after this Eric Clapton joined band as sideman!
Album features a Mac Rebennack (Doctor John) tune (When This Battle Is Over) and lots more. Like Allman Brothers? Get this!

Amazing CD! It's a must for every Delaney And Bonnie collector.
It's a shame that "HOME" is no longer available on CD. There is a RARE recording called GENESIS. I understand that the songs are actually demos. I have the LP. To my knowledge, it is not available on commercial CD. So much time has passed by that I think every recording should be released on CD.

Five stars do not do this album justice. This watershed album ushered in a new era in music. harrison and clapton both knew that and both toured with D & B in the late 60's/early 70's. My favorite track is "Someday". D & B's "call and response" lyrics on this track is simply incredible. This album reeks of their upbringing and their gospel/revival past. I burned my worn out copy onto a cd years ago but nothing can match this version of the album. On a side note, "To Bonnie From Delaney", their next album, is also fantastic as is "Home", their first album released on the Stax label!!!

I first got this lp for free with a subscription to rolling stone magazine. I loved the album, the mix of horns and rock n roll and blues with the gritty vocals set me on fire over 36 years ago. This is a classic needed for all serious collectors. The band was just a cavalcade of superstars for the beginnings of the rock era. So glad that it is so easy to think, remeber what you are looking for and click Amazon for the music to be sent ASAP to your home... charlie

Delaney and Bonnie gave us the heart and soul of rock throughout the late 60's and early 70's. A big band with gusto. I saw all the biggest names, but if I could transport back I would probably pick these guys over my 10' from the stage view of Jimmy Page's guitar solos. Less commercial, but this is music that lasts. No wonder people like Clapton and Leon Russell hung with them, were influenced by them, and influenced them.

When they broke up, neither one quite had the touch again. It happens, right Ringo?

This cd is what solidly established the band. Soulful rock with a gospel touch: brass section, superb keyboards, great guitar work, and very tight. Powerful vocals and harmony. Quality. You'll swear they are a current band. The music is timeless.

D+B are the soundtrack of my high school and college years. My albums are literally worn out and I am replacing them with cds--FINALLY! I got this one first as an LP when I was 15. It hasn't aged a bit. I, on the other hand.........well!

A classic!
