Tired of getting such looks from your cat? Then you need Da Bird. It looks so simple that when you get it out of the carton you might find yourself wondering a) if you've got taken again and b) how this thing is supposed to work. Well, you didn't and it work a multitude of different ways. You can wave it like a wand, cast it like a fishing rod, swing it, etc. Anyway you swing it your cat will chase, jump, leap and pounce.
I knew I had a winner when my cat was dragging the entire apparatus around the house in a casual feline way just IN CASE I happened to see him and decide to play with him. He's on his second round of refills for Da Bird and the bored look is banished.
Junior goes CRAZY over this toy. The feather at the end must truly simulate a flying bird, because I didn't know he was capable of jumping so high! I watch his hunter instincts come alive as my fat cat leaps, twists and almost flips himself in the air! It's incredible, (and quite funny) to watch! And instead of flopping over like he does after chasing other toys just a couple of times, Junior will leap, bound and chitter at the bird/feather until he's close to panting, (and he STILL doesn't want me to put the toy away!) And when Junior catches his, "prey" ... he actually catches the feather, rather than taking out the string.
This has become part of Junior's nightly feeding routine ... he will literally sit by the door where I keep this toy and meow at me if I'm not on schedule. We have our play session, and then I give Junior his "prey" to eat, (normal dinner). After enjoying his meal, he contently grooms himself and falls to sleep ... which is so much better than being woken up in the middle of the night by his, "crazy cat" sessions. Thank you, Jackson Galaxy!! :)
Wisp is an active cat, in spite of her indoor environment . . lots of running, jumping and climbing on her 6-foot high wicker cat tree. I needed something to provide an outlet for all of her excess energy and enthusiasm. It took several tries for me to get the hang of making Da Bird's feathers "twirl". In spite of a few inadvertent "smacks to the snoot", Wisp was patient until I "got it" then all bets were off! She was jumping, stalking, leaping and loving every minute! She's a "chirper" when birds are in the vicinity and she was in full chirp-mode as she chased "the bird" around the room! What a hoot!
I highly recommend Da Bird; it appears to be very well-made and has a good solid feel to it. If my persnickity little cat loves it on sight, it's definitely a keeper!
