Legitimate battery but a little old

Received in December 2013 from seller Mobile Parts Proz. The battery is factory packaged and clearly marked as Lenovo product.

Installed and the W500 recognized it as authentic.
Power manager reports the following:

Full charge capacity: 78.42 Wh (disappointing for design capacity of 84.24 Wh - that's 93%)
Manufacturer: SANYO
Manufacture Date: 2013-01-15 (So, on the shelf for about 11 months - not the freshest)
First Used date: 2013-12 (good, I got it new)

Given that the seller was offering this for less than half of what Lenovo sells this for directly, I think the condition is reasonable.

I am happy that this is legitimate as I have dealt with numerous other sellers (mostly on ebay) who claimed to sell legitimate batteries but instead sold counterfeit batteries made with old gray market cells testing at 30% of rated capacity or even less. So, yes, I would recommend this seller.

Just a tip for anyone buying a replacement battery for their lenovo laptop: When you install it, always run the power manager (click on the battery icon in the tray) and review the battery tab. First use should always be the current month and Full Charge Capacity ideally should equal or exceed the rated capacity. I would NEVER accept anything with at least 90% of rated capacity at any price.

Very good buy

After reading these reviews, decided to take a chance since my current T60 battery was weakening fast. When this item arrived, I was not over-impressed by the generic cardboard inner box, although the contents came well padded and inside an anti-static wrap.

Installed the battery and ran the "reset" procedure which also conditions the battery with a full charge-discharge-charge cycle. Lenovo Power Manager indicates manufacture date of Jan-2010 and first use date of Mar-2010.

Following the reset, PM shows full charge capacity of 93% of the design capacity. This is pretty good, and makes the battery a very good buy. The power gauge shows a run time greater than 4 hours, which seems optimistic since my T60 has the ATI Radeon graphics card. However, I'm not complaining.

Genuine, and only 8 months old - happy

Pleasantly surprised as I considered this purchase a bit of a risk. The Lenovo date is July 2015. As I'm running Windows 10 on my T61p, Windows forced an uninstall of the Lenovo Battery Condition App, citing incompatibility. I'd love to find a compatible version, but so far, zero finds. I have Windows configured to only charge to 99% per their recommendation to lengthen battery life for a laptop generally connected to the power adapter. So, the "condition" can't be seen, but with it being only 8 months old, I'm very, very happy to have a genuine battery of recent vintage that I saved about $100 on over the Lenovo site's price.

Lenovo battery for a great price.

While the battery arrived in a plain brown box that wasn't sealed, my trust old Thinkpad T61 sees it as a real Lenovo battery. It has an older Manufacture date of 2012-09-09 but the cycle count was 0, and Designed and Full Charge capacities matched at 84Wh.

This replacement battery, even after 15 charging cycles, is still showing a Full Charge Capacity of 84.04Wh.

I run my screen at full brightness at all times. With the power manager app set for MAX performance, I'm still getting over 3hrs use on battery. Power Source Optimized I get about 4hrs.

Unlike an after market battery I had tried before ordering this one, this Lenovo battery works properly, and my laptop suspends at 7% and lower, rather than just cutting powering off at 7%

So Far So Good.

This looks like a genuine OEM battery. I used it to replace an original 6 cell battery which died in a Lenovo SL500 notebook. Being a 9 cell battery and with a higher capacity, this battery sticks out about 1 inch in the back of the notebook. For me that is not a problem.
After replacing the battery I started the notebook (Windows 7 Professional custom, non-Lenovo installation). The battery seemed to have topped off at 87% charge. I shut down the notebook but left it plugged in. About an hour later I found that the battery charge reached 100%. I haven't doe any time discharge tests yet. I may do them in the future. The notebook is used in an office environment, always on AC. The battery is there more or less to prevent the computer powering off if there is a power failure.

Update Nov 2014

My initial rating of 5 star went down to 1 star. I bought it from Marcus Tech. My T61 Power Manager shows that after only about 41 cycles of charge/recharge, it retains 39% of the charge. PLEASE DO NOT BUY THIS BATTERY AND IF YOU HAVE TO, DO NOT BUY FROM MARCUS TECH. WHAT A CLASSIC RIPOFF. I just contacted the Seller for a return and refund. I have been taken for a ride.
