Easy fix for an irritating problem

The "T" key on my keyboard just quit working. Well ... it didn't actually quit, it just required a much heavier keypress than the rest of the keys on the keyboard. I bought this replacement keyboard, installed it, and "shazam" ... problem solved. Now I have all of the "T"s I could possibly need. TTTTTTTTTT

Note: Removal of the old keyboard and installation of the new keyboard is easy ... you can find instructions on Lenovo's website. However ... one thing the instructions don't tell you is that you may need to loosen the case screws on the bottom of the Thinkpad in order to allow the keyboard to be removed and replaced. You don't have to take the screws out .. just loosen all of them up a couple of turns.

Good to go on My T410

I just finished installing this keyboard on my IBM Thinkpad T410 (2537-C84) and I'm using it now to type this review.

It appears to be a brand new keyboard -- keys are shiny and clean with no wear marks anywhere -- that just dropped in and fit exactly. It says "Made In China" on the back, which you might expect as IBM's laptop successor, Lenovo, is a Chinese company. All the keys work and have that "new" key spring feeling.

I followed the remove/replace instructions on the IBM website and my only hiccup was re-connecting the underneath ribbon cable -- my fingers are too fat and it took several tries to properly align and re-attach the very small and very delicate connector to the motherboard. Once aligned, just press down gently and the connector will seat correctly. Other than that the install was uneventful.

By the way, YouTube has several videos showing exactly how the T410 keyboard is removed/re-installed and how to remove individual keys and replace them if needed. I recommend them since (as a newbie to laptop servicing) I was initially hesitant to break into my pride and joy.

Part is OEM and new, worked fine

The part I received (from IDParts Inc) seems in all respects to be a legit OEM Thinkpad keyboard, with as best I can tell the same design, markings and part #s of my original keyboard. It was also clean and had zero wear marks so I believe it to be a new keyboard rather than a used one repacked as new which seems to be another common problem with buying laptop keyboards online. Install was very simple (search for videos online) and it has worked perfectly in my T410 for about 24 hours now.

Besides an SSD, a new keyboard is about the best upgrade you can give an older laptop if you do a lot of writing or coding

1 star to Amazon fulfillment who sent it in a bubble mailer causing it to be slightly bent on delivery.

Installation took less than 5 minutes Unscrew two screws, lift keyboard, disconnect cable, connect new one, slide it in place, put the two screws back. Thank you Lenovo/IBM/ThinkPad for designing your computers so smartly!. So I have a new keyboard which looks, feels, sounds and works just perfect!

Not original OEM but works okay

Of course this is not the original keyboard that came with T410/420 series. As I own both T410 and T420 I can tell this one is not original by looking at the keyboard. But it fits into the laptop pretty well and the typing feeling is not that bad. Also note that the keycaps came with this keyboard are not 100% same as the original keyboard so you can't simply swap the keycaps in this keyboard to the original keyboard to fix the "slippery keycap" problem. Seller was IDParts Inc.

Do not believe for a moment that this is an ...

Do not believe for a moment that this is an original Lenovo keyboard identical to the one that came with your notebook. I have owned a series of Thinkpads and I can assure you that this does not have the legendary feel of typing on a genuine Thinkpad keyboard. It does work properly, but rather clicky and tinny to type on, slight sticking on one or two keys, and on the one I received the space bar was not seated correctly. Also, as another reviewer noted, close examination of the keys shows that they are not the same as on the genuine Thinkpad keyboard.

This was exactly the part I needed and it was much cheaper than the other options. This was very easy to install and I can't even tell the difference, except that none of the keys are worn now. I just got this and installed it on my Thinkpad T410 (with the help of a You Tube video). It appears to be a least equal in quality to the old keyboard I removed. In fact it is a bit better. The trackpoint is more responsive than the old one. Good job.
