As I recall, the original X-ray Spex from the 1960s had a plastic frame. These are all cardboard, and will not hold up to even casual use. I was disappointed with this product.

As kids we dreamed that somehow these x-ray spex would allow us to see bones through skin and skin through clothes. Oh, we never REALLY believed it could be true....Did we?
Well, at least they were good for a joke. You could wear these in a crowd and make friends believe you could see their Scooby Doo undies.
Today, they continue as a gag gift. Only trouble is, the joke is on you. The original X-ray Spex, that we all remember from the 60's and 70's comic book ads, were made with plastic frames. The current version is made entirely of cardstock. The value is around twenty five cents. And, at that price, simply for the novelty value of the packaging. They are useless when removed from the package and placed on your face.

I got these for a gag gift for an X-Ray tech's birthday. I should have read the reviews, but didn't. I got these as a kid and they had a plastic frame. These are paper. For the price, they are not worth it. I usually research things, but only had a day to order them so they would arrive on time for the party. I'll keep this in mind for my next purchase. Disappointed is the word I would use. Can't type the word that came out of my mouth when I opened the package. Save your money.

Was sort of an extra gift for my husband on his birthday because he said he's never owned a pair. The packaging is identical to the pic and looked so cool that bie's decided not to open them, but to frame the entire thing instead. I think that's a compliment.

I bought a pair of these when I was ten (back in 1969 after I saw the ad in a comic book). They never arrived and I eventually forgot about them. Then one day, when I was around 13, guess what came in the mail? The box looked like it had been through a war and the plastic frames were broken as was one of the "lenses." If I recall, there was a letter in there about a manufacturing problem. Funny that these things are still around.

Tried these and can not see through clothes... Very disappointed.. J/k.. These were great for a gag gift. Just hoped they were a little thicker framed.

Exactly like the Wacky Pair my brother and I bought from a Comic Book offer when we were almost teenagers in the 60's. Man, did we have fun with them back then. 40 years later I searched for them on Amazon.com and they popped up! I gave them to my brother as a gag birthday gift, and they were the hit of the party. Everybody loves these goofy glasses and were holding out there hands to see the "Bones" under their skin. What a Hoot. Even Great GrandMa posed for the camera with them on !! Thanx Amazon for making it all possible again ! Enjoy !!
