- Reviewed in the United States on August 7, 2024Lovely bedtime story and the pictures are so interesting. It is different than the movie, but we liked both, and I am betting you will too. But, you don't have to take my word for it.
- Reviewed in the United States on February 16, 2024I had a baby and we named him Orion, so I've been on the look-out for Orion-themed things. I came across this book and decided to buy it on a whim. It turned out to be a very cute book. My 4 year old loves it. It's all about a little boy who is afraid of many things, including the dark. But, one day, the "dark" comes to life, explores some of the night-time things/noises with him, and teaches him that he doesn't need to be afraid. It's well-done and very cute. We love reading it at night before bed.

- Reviewed in the United States on April 8, 2022My daughter is afraid of the dark, so I want to get a book that can help her to overcome her fears. This is a humorous book that introduce the idea to a child that dark can be fun too. My daughter had fun reading through all the funny noises that Orien hear in the dark. And she just ask me to repeat and repeat again. She will also often take the book and read it to herself. I am not sure if this book had help her to overcome anything, but at least she enjoyed it very much.
- Reviewed in the United States on March 9, 2024Adorable book. Beautiful illustrations and the story is heartwarming
- Reviewed in the United States on May 21, 2016My son really likes this book, and it's a fun read with lots of pictures and funny little details to add to the story. Like Emma Yarlett's other books, it teaches a lesson and this one is about not being afraid of the dark. My son was not afraid of the dark, but this book put lots of ideas into his active imagination about monsters, the dark, and strange noises. While I know the purpose it to make children unafraid, maybe it was coincidence, but around the time we got this book he started fussing about his dark room and monsters. While I don't think he's truly afraid of monsters, he has about 4 night lights in his room now. It didn't really help curb any possible fears. There seems to be a theme with this author's books and my children. They love the entertaining story and illustrations, but they start mimicking the negative theme such as not sharing like in Sidney and Stella, and being afraid in Orion.
- Reviewed in the United States on May 25, 2024About child afraid of things at bedtime, especially the dark. No scary illustrations or text about monsters or goblins. Just “the dark” befriending the child and helping him understand there’s nothing to fear in the dark. Fun story targeted to purpose of dispelling child’s fear of the dark.

A great story for kids, whether or not they're afraid of the dark.
The artwork in this story is second to none, and the way some of the pages are shaped in an unusual manner makes it a very compelling read. The story is great, and the pages are fun and colourful without being TOO busy.
Highly recommended.

Me encanta, creo que es un libro esencial para todo niño/a. Las ilustraciones son muy bonitas, la historia es también muy bonita. Lo único es que la cubierta de la pasta llegó un tanto dañada por el envío, pero la planchamos y quedó bien.

My kid has been having issues with the dark lately and this was one of the two books I bought here to try and deal with the scaredness. So far she loves this book and the fun little surprises in it for her to discover

This is such a cute book and it actually seems to help my son not to be afraid of the dark. He asks to have it read to him every night!
