I moved "Fred" into a Deep Blue Aquarium 2.5 gallon tank that now sits on my home office desk. Something large enough for Fred, but I have to be realistic with limited "desk top real estate". This hygger betta log sits smack in the middle of my 12x8x6" inch Deep Blue tank with two natural broad leaf plants on each side. After heading to Pet Co. and a good deal of research, I found this log on Amazon with only 3 reviews...all 5 stars!
FRED loves his new hygger betta log! Within a minute, he was darting in and out of it and appreciates an area just to chill. He has already figured out all of the access holes and USES them all! I placed this betta log at a 45 degree angle and it is the best thing I found for FRED. Get one for your betta! He will be sooooo happy!
Note: As much as I wanted a kit for Fred, I ended up building my own tank kit. I just couldn't find exactly what I was looking for. Here's what I build Fred's home with (mostly from searching and buying on Amazon):
- Deep Blue Acrylic Professional ADB11001 2.5 gallon tank
- NICREW Classic LED Aquarium light , 6W with extendable brackets
- 10W internal heater (already had this)
- thermometer
- Koller Products TOM Aquarium internal Power filter (perfect output for a small tank like this)
- Zilla Terrarium cover (12x6 inch)
- 2 small natural broad leaf plants (from Pet Co)
- 3 small marimo moss balls (from Pet Co)
- Sponge Bob (my kids insisted)
- some smooth black stones scattered over regular gravel (Pet Co)

The quality of this log is outstanding. Not only is the detailing gorgeous but it also doesn’t have jagged edges on any of its entrances, making it safe for long finned fish like bettas to play in. My fish loves his log and uses all of the entrances. Would buy again!

Loved the natural, detailed look of this decoration & after extensive searching was excited about the prospect of giving my little guy a neat toy to hide in. BUT! The inside has sharp protrusions and the edges are razor sharp, I won’t be risking exposing George to potential cuts, rips or tears of those delicate fins. No need to try the panty hose test on this piece, very disappointed it’s being returned.

Reading the dimensions, I was afraid this log would be tiny, but I was pleasantly surprised! The holes are big enough for fish to fit through (dwarf gourami and axolotls can fit). It did not take long for my fish to start exploring their new cave, and I’m pretty sure my bumblebee catfish is going to adopt it as it’s new home. The inside is smooth, and the color is spectacular. Being “Brown” in color, and having a black theme tank, it still looks quite awesome. I cannot find a single fault with this log, very nice quality!
