About the Author
Jackie Burt’s passion for teaching and progress in education comes from a unique background of experience, and her deep belief in the potential of children and those who teach them. She grew up experiencing a wide variety of school settings which led to her ability to see educational potential well outside of the box. Innovation is at the heart of her vision. She promotes a student-centered model that illuminates realistic possibilities in the realm of educational progress. Burt has been pushing boundaries since the beginning of her career, continually seeking a better answer or a new way to approach a problem. Ultimately, she was inspired to embark on a journey in which she could test the creative approaches she envisioned, where unutilized potential in children would be unleashed. Her desire to ignite the love of learning in every student and her desire to implement effective student-centered systems led to the opening of Orsch, a lab school that is truly cutting the edge.

Whether you are a teacher, parent, educational activist, concerned citizen, or paradigm shifter, this book will remind you of what so many of us already know but just haven't done anything about: our mainstream educational institutions are not inspiring every student to be the best he or she can be, and this is an unacceptable travesty for both the children and our society. Burt is a champion for children, as we all should be. This book will show you how you can create change in your own school system and advocate for the children in your lives to be the excited, empowered learners they are meant to be. Thank you, Jackie Burt!
I love this book. Through it you will see too what is possible in education. You will overcome your fears of stepping outside the predominant small box thinking of current US educational policies and find real life stories of children loving learning well into Middle School age, because they were trusted! .
Every educator must read this book
Every parent must read this book
If you've ever imagined that education could be different than it is in most schools today...you will love Orsch and Jackie Burt!
