However, half a year later, the sumac is sending up over a dozen new sucker roots which happens if you miss destroying even one root. Followed directions and carefully sprayed and brushed this Ortho onto the leaves and also on some fresh cuts on some of the sucker branches, during fall when most plants are supposedly storing up reserves in their root systems.
Six months after application and there are no signs up sumac shoots, so the Ortho Max worked! It also got rid of other tough and unwanted plants like a fig tree and some persistent climbing wall ivy that Roundup couldn't remove.
Read another review on Amazon which suggested adding a squirt of dish washing liquid to the mixture - apparently it breaks down the waxy layer on the leaves so the product gets absorbed much quicker. When I did that, the effect was very rapid...foliage started turning brown within a day as opposed to 4-7 days without.
Used this on nettles which keep recurring in my garden and achieved total annihilation!!
Take care not to splash product on valuable plants.
Kills Sumac as well as the stubborn Ivy we have.(We did use 6oz instead of 4oz due to the amount of sumac and how thick ot was)
Took me 3 months of steroids and two shots for the sumac to get out of my blood stream.
"""This product has given me my outside life back!!""
Thank You Ortho!!
