"If you only buy one book this year, this is it. The value of this book, for which no praise is high enough, lies in its massive accumulation of proof. Unfortunately, your physician probably doesn't know anything about all this."
"A great book."
Dag Viljen Poleszynski, PhD
"If you are really serious about your health, this is the book you should get your hands on."
Trevor King, Northern Ireland
"Dr. Andrew W. Saul has performed a great service to humanity by compiling this monumental work of key research supporting the curative power of nutrition and vitamin supplements in the treatment and cure of chronic disease. If tomorrow, every health practitioner started applying the information in The Orthomolecular Treatment of Chronic Disease, the improvement in the health of the nation and the reduction in suffering would be unprecedented."
John I. Mosher, PhD
Professor of Biological Sciences (Emeritus)
State University of New York
"The Orthomolecular Treatment of Chronic Disease sounds like a book you would take to school. It's not. It's easy to read and easy to follow. It's the most terrific book out there. It talks about key people who, over the last 80 years, have had success curing illnesses with vitamins."
The Body Talk Health Show
"I got the heavy book today, The Orthomolecular Treatment of Chronic Disease. Fantastic, marvelous! This is extremely fine medicine."

Andrew Saul's 800 page compilation on the treatment of chronic disease with therapeutic amounts of substances naturally occurring in the human body ( such as minerals, vitamins, co factors ) should be enough to convince any open minded person that this approach should be tried ahead of any pharmaceutical approach to the treatment of chronic disease. The book is organized into three sections: Foundations of Orthomolecular therapy ( 130 pages ) Pioneers or Orthomolecular Medicine ( 43 pages ) and about 600 pages dealing with the specifics of treatment of Alcoholism, Alzheimer's Disease, Cancer, Depression and Anxiety, Drug Addictions, Eye Diseases. Fatigue, HIV/Aids, Hyperactivity , Radiation Sickness, Schizophrenia and Psychosis.
In Part one and part three is a compilation of short articles written by specialists within the field, and edited by the author. Because of this format the reader will come across some duplication of facts, but these tend to reinforce the learning of the non professional reader. The style of writing is accessible, though written at level that will engage the health care provider. Many of the case histories where details of protocol that could only be used by a doctor are probably not that helpful to the average reader, other than to convince him that important therapies can be achieve through this approach. Hopefully, the detailed discussions of case histories will convince some independent doctors to offer some of these therapies to their patients.
This book gives no guidance in the use of herbs to heal.
I was at first disappointed to see no discussion of liposomal vitamin C. However the authors colleagues have provided a good summary in their discussion as to how vitamin c and its potential to help people recover from the Ebola virus. see: http://orthomolecular.org/resources/omns/v10n13.shtml
However there is a far deeper level regarding getting at the ultimate causes of many symptoms. This book, and orthomolecular psychiatry, actually hide this crucial, deeper, causative level.
One major causative factor is porphyria. Pyroluria for many is secondary to hidden porphyria. Carl Pfeiffer’s strange statement may have given away the deliberate obfuscation here. He said “pyroluria is schizophrenic porphyria.” And the NY Times obituary of him revealed that he was a CIA agent who injected helpless prisoners with LSD for some 8-9 years before being inserted at the top of ortho. medicine or alternative medicine. Think on that…
Many supplements are not safe as stated in this book. For the many hidden porphyrics, supplements, just like drugs, induce the Cytochrome P450 enzymes, and can indeed make the taker/sufferer worse via this mechanism!
All this and much more are explained in the remarkable book by Steven Rochlitz, PhD; PORPHYRIA:The Ultimate Cause of Common, Chronic, & Environmental Illnesses, With Breakthroughs in Diet, Supplements, and Energy Balancing
It details how much of “mental illness” is really porphyria. You can save your own life with this book and its information. I know Amazon doesn’t sell it, but you can find it at the author’s wellatlast dot com website. The testimonials page there contains actual reader feedback from doctor’s and lay people.
That page has a link to a great recent, free interview of Prof. Rochlitz on how porphyria is often the key to dealing with mental illness symptoms; and also how harm can come from taking many supplements.
If you get and read Prof. Rochlitz’s book, you will learn what this book does not include, and you will understand what is really happening to you.
