Ordered 10 of these after researching WeMo, Insteon, and other competitors. While I cannot control these with an Amazon Echo or Siri, I can control them via my iPhone using the company's WiWo app. It works well.
They were simple to setup, one at a time, and I am using them, as I write this, to manage our holiday lights. I have several scenes that allow me to manage the window lights, outdoor lights, and Christmas tree in combinations that make sense. I have tested and I can turn the lights on or off while away from home. If you purchase and have trouble setting up, use the "AP configuration" mode -- it is documented in the instructions and the app. There are a few configuration quirks but, if you work through them, and you simply want to manage some electronics through your phone, I think you'll be happy with your purchase.
ALLOW UNIT TO ROTATE: The unit can only be plugged in one way -- three prong does not rotate. That means if you plug it in the bottom socket, it will cover the top socket, too. I suggest they allow the unit to be rotated, if possible.
16 CHARACTER NAME LENGTH: They default to "socket" and you can rename them in the app - up to 16 characters. It would be nice to have longer names, e.g. 20 or 30 characters.
FRONT-FACING PLUG: Just FYI. The plug is on the front, as shown in pictures. That looks good, but you must take this into account as it either increases the distance you must accommodate behind furniture or you'll have to workaround with low-profile cords or outlet adapters.
The app used to control the device is very easy to use, and the lights can be turned on and off with the push of a button on your smart phone. There is also a timer function that will turn the lights on and off on a schedule. We have the timer set on a daily schedule, and it works like clockwork.
I would highly recommend this smart socket.
I can turn my bedroom light on while in bed, or at work. You can set timers, actions, or just a normal on/off switch.
The actions are great because you can have the action work for an individual switch, multiple switches, or all switches.
It is very reliable and maintains its wifi connection.
Needs an app called "HomeMate” in the App store for the iPhone and Google Play store for the Android.
Download the app, register for an account and you are ready to start.
Insert the Smart Plug into an outlet. In the app, click on add a device. Connect to device wifi,
Press the button on the Smart Plug to make it flash and press next in the app.
Enter your Wi-Fi and password in the app and press next.
If everything is entered correctly, it should find your plug and show the name.
You can rename the device at this time to something that makes sense for you.
Click done in the app. You can now turn outlet on and off from the app.
Lights can be scheduled to tun on or off while no one is at home. Also, I can turn on or turn off the lights through my cell phone from just about anywhere you travel with the App which is linked to these smart plugs.
Really useful to control the floor lamp by using the phone apps.
Have to say that the price was what drew me to this wifi outlet since I really had know experience with them.
Looks and feels well made. The first one that I plugged in took three or four times to connect to wifi, I'm sure it's because didn't know what I was doing, since the second one connected right up.
The app is pretty straight forward.
Name your plug (lamp #1) then your able turn it on/off, set a time for it to turn on/off, or a timer to turn it off.
The outlet is surprisingly loud when turned on/off, just must be how they work, they both do it.
Problems I see, is if I do get into this it would be nice to find one company to take care of all my needs. Switches, plugs, security and anything else.
For the price it's a cool gadget.
