Great functionality

Great functionality
This hydration backpack vest is very functional. It was very thoughtfully constructed with so many different pockets and hooks. I am generally a size 4/6 and the small/medium fit well. It’s a little awkward in the bust, but I’m sure I will get used to it. It is super breathable as well. It is very well made. The zippers are smooth and the stitching is very neat. All the materials are high quality. Exactly what you would expect from an Osprey product. The main pouch contains the hydration pack but also has a ton of space for other things. Then there is a second pouch which is also very large. There is also a tool pouch on the bottom with a little roll that comes out that you can put your tools in. Definitely handy if using this for biking vs hiking. In the front, there are symmetric pockets that have a decent amount of room. They fit my Pixel 8 Prol, barely but it did fit. As well as little places to hook things like your sunglasses. The snaps are really easy to fasten and unfasten, but don’t come apart on their own. And the mouthpiece conveniently attaches to the top buckle with a magnet. Overall, this is another great product from Osprey. Very handy and practical with so many little hidden functions I’m sure I still haven’t found them all.

    Hydration capacity:

Osprey is one of my favorite brands when it comes to backpacks.
I was looking for a bike pack for trail rides - something compact, snug, and stable.
I purchased the 6-liter version and was surprised by how much it can hold. Everything I need fits inside: an inner tube, a spare chain, bike tools, air pump - all that along with a 1.5-liter hydration reservoir.
This vest is so good that I also bought the 3-liter version for more urban rides.

Sizing info that seems to be missing (pulled from official Osprey website):

    Escapist Velocity 6
    Unisex S/M
    26.5-36 in / 67-92 cm

    Unisex L/XL
    35-47 in / 89-119 cm

I got the L/XL which fits 3/5 people in my house. I got this mainly for me, but also for my husband when we go on hikes because I have another hydration bag which I like.

For reference, I am 5'6", ~180lbs, 36D, typically wear a Large and my husband is 6', ~225lbs, XXL shirt and it fits both of us securely.

There are chest straps and flank straps, so it can be sized to accommodate a lot of body shapes and sizes. Chest straps have 2 prongs + magnetic quick closure, so it stays in place during movement but is easy for anyone to open - no limitations if your hands hurt and can't squeeze well like some brands.

Love the spots to slide your glasses in and attach you helmet to your bag easier. The glasses holder can hold metal or plastic frames. Unsure if it would fit super thick plastic sides, but standard ones have room. The helmet lock is very slim so it can easily fit through any size grooves/holes your helmet has.

Entire inside is ventilated which helps you stay cool.

Lots of pockets on the front and some on the back. The front pockets don't fit my iPhone with a case and tether on it - could probably fit an uncased phone. There is a zipper pocket on the back that can accommodate it. In the front of the vest, there are 2 slip in pockets + 1 zippered pocket on each side. The back has the hydration pocket, a snack/stuff pocket, and the tool roll pocket (all zippered). You can adjust the hydration bag to come out of the left or right side (or even use a larger bag), but the only magnetic place to hook your mouthpieces is on the top left side. If you don't have a magnet on your mouthpiece, there is a half pocket perfect for tucking it into on each side.

I primarily use this for hiking, so the tool roll gets filled with first aid supplies for me. It could be used for a lot of sports - I find that there is great shoulder range of motion and it feels more comfortable to me than the daypack style (which of course has bonuses, like more storage.) As always, I'm a fan of Osprey gear - it fits my body well and is built to last.

Unlike most of the reviews I've seen currently for this hydration backpack, I didn't receive this free. I considered multiple other brands before concluding this was the best one for me. I'm glad I did. The pack has a well thought out design. It's big enough to carry everything I need for my long bike rides but not so big that it's too bulky. The roll up storage tool kit and multiple vest pockets are much appreciated. The magnet helps manage the tubing to easily keep me hydrated. It fits well on me and after a while I barely notice I'm wearing it. I wish it came in lighter colors because when I bike during the summer it's usually 95 degrees and would like something that would not get so hot on my back. But the magma brown color that I bought looks pretty good. I felt it had good enough ventilation system so my back didn't feel too sweaty. Overall it's a great bike vest/hydration pack.

I've been on the lookout for a lighter hydration solution for my road biking – something less bulky than a traditional backpack. The Osprey Escapist Velocity 6L vest caught my eye, and after a few rides, I'm pretty happy with it.

What I really like is that vest-style fit. It's snug but not tight, and it stays put, which is key when you're cruising along. The zippered front pockets are super handy for quick access to gels or my phone – easy to grab without stopping. It also comes with a 1.5 L hydration reservoir, which is a bonus, and the magnetic clip on the sternum strap keeps the hose right where I need it, no dangling around.

Loading the hydration sleeve is simple with its direct-zip access. There are also a few internal pockets and a small tool roll area that help keep my essentials organized. I can comfortably carry my multi-tool, a spare tube, and a light windbreaker without overfilling it.

All in all, it's a competent vest for shorter to medium road rides where you don't need extensive storage. It feels well-made and durable, typical of Osprey. If you're after a lighter, more agile hydration option that still offers some cargo space, this could be a good choice.
