The women's specific fit Osprey Fairview 55 is the perfect companion for a long weekend. Feel free to add an extra sweater and a pair of waterproof boots; this pack is designed to handle loads up to 50 pounds.

The LightWire frame suspension transfers the load from harness to hipbelt. A mesh backpanel improves ventilation and the mesh on the harness and hipbelt reduces chafing under load. The entire suspension stows away under a zippered panel creating a sleek silhouette for transport.


Stowaway Backpanel A women's specific backpanel, hipbelt and harness system can easily be stowed and zipped away for a slimmer profile when traveling. The creates a slimmer profile for the bag, making it a better checked bag. It also utilizes an internal LightWire frame suspension system that helps transfer load from the harness to the hipbelt.	Large Internal Storage Two internal compression straps secure your load, so feel free to add an extra sweater and a pair of waterproof boots; this pack is designed to handle loads up to 40 pounds. I adore this backpack. It easily fit 10+ days worth of clothes a jacket and a couple pairs of sandals on a recent 16 day trip to Europe (the reason I bought the bag- although I do think using packing cubes also helped). Technically it is too large for carry-on, but I have never had any issue carrying this on on the 10 flights and multiple airlines I have used since purchasing this bag. The color is great (although more teal then it looks in pictures). The day pack is the perfect size to fit under your seat on flight or take on short trips. The straps and material are comfortable and the bag is very durable. I do wish it had another pocket in the main pack and that it was a bit easier to get the day pack reattached to the main bag (it's not difficult, there is just a lot of zipping, tucking and buckling involved). Not for one second do I regret purchasing this bag, I will never check a bag again!

I struggled with pulling the trigger on purchasing this bag because it was a little larger than airlines allow. But, I traveled on five flights through the US and Japan. I only used valet service on a regional domestic flight because I didn't want to deal with it. PROS: U Zipper (top open) allows you to access things super quick. It also has compression straps inside and out, that really compress the load. I traveled eight days using compression cubes and fit two large cubes with: 2 dresses; 3 blouses; 1 pair of slacks; 1 pair of capris; 2 pair yoga pants; 2 tanks; 3 t-shirts; 2 pr shoes; toiletry bag. On the way back, I stuffed in two oversized stuffed animals and multiple souvenirs. The bag was comfortable and the waist strap really helped to distribute the load. I detached the smaller bag for my "personal item" and had it packed with: sweater, folder of important docs; ipad, compression socks, slippers, water bottle, and medicines.

This is a fantastic travel bag, and Osprey has an incredible warranty. This is a no brainer for comfort and international backpacking. I recommend this to anyone who needs comfort and versatility on their travels.

Great Backpack, but not enough space for my needs

I ordered this backpack for a trip to Chile in the fall. Just a word of caution to remember that the 55 includes the daypack, so the big part of the bag itself carries less than you might expect. I'm returning it for the larger version, the Fairview 70, to be able to fit winter clothes and hiking shoes for a 5 week trip through South America. If I stuck with this size it would be cutting it way too close for 5 weeks of travel in cool weather. I could see it being perfect for summer trips or shorter adventures, and the whole backpack is really nicely designed. I'm 5'2" and got the XS/S, and that part fits me perfectly. Excited to stick with the Fairview, but upgrade to the 70!

Good large pack, bu the day pack is too small

- Roomy in the main sack
- Comfortable to wear
- Cinch straps work well
- Held up well as checked baggage
- Treated with permethrin and didn't get discolored

Negatives:
- Detachable day pack is so small, it's hardly useful.
- If you load up the day pack, water bottles don't fit in the space for them (I wish the bottle holder was on the side instead)

Overall, I wish I had just bought the Fairview 40 and used my own separate day pack. Linking them together seems like a good idea, but when they're filled w/ stuff, then it's a pipe dream to fit them together well.

Fits A LOT of stuff, but awkward

I took this on vacation around Ireland - we stayed in two different hostels. Had no issues as a carry-on for United Airlines, the only problem we encountered was lack of overhead bin space, so we had to check it on a few legs. Just put the straps in and carry it like a duffel, they won't blink twice. It fits A LOT of stuff, I was able to pack several t-shirts, 8 pairs of underwear, two bras, three pairs of jeans, two sweaters, two sets of pajamas, a microfiber towel set, flip flops (for shower), a pair of sneakers, six pairs of socks, and all of my makeup/toiletries. Furthermore, I fit a bunch of medicine, charging cords and my Bose headphones in the day pack.

My only issue is this - if you pack it COMPLETELY full like I did, it's so awkward and heavy to carry on your back or otherwise. We walked about a mile and a half from one hostel to another about midway through our trip and my back was aching by the time we got there... even after adjusting the straps and using the waist buckle. Would not recommend this if you will be walking with it on your back for long periods of time.

Quality is great - pack is definitely well-made, and I like the option to zip off the day pack - which was great for us as we did lots of sightseeing and day tours. I'd recommend it for sure, but be aware of the awkward carrying issues.

Todavía no puedo opinar sobre su uso porque la he comprado para un viaje que haré de un mes en unos días. Estuve varios días buscando mochilas y la Farview 55 de Osprey es la que más me convenció por su versatilidad y tamaño. En amazon es donde he encontrado un mejor precio para la mochila, ya que al ser el modelo de chica me ha costado encontrarla. Incluso en la tienda oficial de Osprey no hacían envíos a Baleares y era más cara, así que sobre el vendedor puedo dar 5 estrellas y además llegó antes de lo previsto y en perfectas condiciones.
El color no es el esperado, en la web se ve negra o gris muy oscuro con detalles en color turquesa, pero la realidad es que es un gris verdoso (casi como el verde camuflaje), aunque a mí casi que me gusta más así.
Leí varias opiniones antes de comprarla porque me preocupaba que no la admitiesen como equipaje de mano, y si bien soy consciente desde el principio que las medidas de la mochila no son las aceptadas como equipaje de mano, tengo fe en no tener problemas en embarcarla aunque es un poco más grande (alta) de lo que pensaba, pero también es más estrecha que una maleta de cabina.
ACTUALIZO COMENTARIO: tras un mes de uso intensivo, estoy muy contenta con mi mochila, ha aguantado perfectamente el trote que le he dado de aviones, trenes, barcos, etc, y la capacidad me ha bastado para llevar ropa para un mes (en clima caluroso). También ha sido muy útil llevar la mochila pequeña ya que la he utilizado como mochila de diario para paseos y excursiones. Para mí ha sido muy útil comprar organizadores para meter la ropa y que no se me desparramara al abrir la mochila, ya que ésta se puede abrir totalmente. También he llevado una funda para la lluvia que la podía meter en el compartimento que hay para guardar la solapa que cubre las asas.
Respecto a utilizarla como equipaje de cabina, tengo que decir que no he tenido ningún problema en llevarla como equipaje de mano, la he llevado con Air Europa, Etihad, Malaysia Airlines, Air Asia, Vietjet, Vietnam Airlines. El único problema lo he tenido con la compañía Garuda Indonesia, pero no por tamaño, sino por peso, ya que sobrepasaba el límite de peso (también ha sido en la única compañía que me la han pesado) y se trataban de aviones tipo interislas que son pequeños y los compartimentos de equipaje son estrechos, así que la tuve que facturar. Por tanto,os recomiendo no llevarla al máximo de su capacidad para evitar problemas.

I bought this for a 4 month trip around Southeast Asia and my other half had the Farpoint. We were not disappointed. They are great, sturdy rucksacks and survived some harsh treatment on motorbikes, tuktuks, coaches, trains and planes! The zip away straps were perfect for air travel and the detachable day bag was the perfect size for hikes and other trips. Get yourself some packing cubes and you won’t have any issues!! If this isn’t big enough then you’re taking too much! We love them and will be holding on to them for a LONG time. Highly recommend!

I've had this bag for a few weeks now and I'm so glad I purchased it.

I took it on a weekend trip to London. I flew out with Ryanair and Back with Aer Lingus. It was accepted as hand luggage by both without any issues.

The bag was very comfortable to wear and I have arthritis so this was important. It was very easy to climb steps in the tub stations.

The bag is very roomy and if you are good at packing light you would easily fit a weeks worth of clothes in. Just make sure not to over pack/make it bulky looking or you might be stopped at airports.
