The carry-on sized Rolling Transporter 40L will keep your gear and clothing or whatever safe and sound on any trip. The Transporter 40L's HighRoad Chassis features a sturdy, lightweight aluminum frame with an extendable handle and oversized wheels to keep you rolling smoothly. Osprey normally blows me away. This bag is well made for sure but I do wish it had a few more bells and whistles. It’s really simple. I’m longing for more organization, smaller pockets on the sides and on the inside. I have traveled with other Osprey luggage, a different model, and in comparison, this handle doesn’t operate as smoothly as the other. That was truly a bummer! I decided to keep it only because I needed it for a trip and didn’t have the time to find something else. Sorry Osprey but I think there are better bags out there at this price point.

I'd make a couple of minor tweaks but its a great bag

I was a little nervous buying this bag as at the time I bought it (around oct 2018), it was basically all vine reviews. But I have other osprey bags and went ahead and bought it. I'm not disappointed, its a great bag. I have used it for a few international flights. I have not checked it in, so cannot comment on that. Its light, rolls well and the color makes it easy to spot and keep an eye on when your on a bus/train etc. My only constructive criticism would be: Firstly, that there is fabric handle on the bottom, right beside the plastic handle, so one of them is not needed. Secondly, it has two handles on the top (on each edge) but i'd prefer one in the center as when you pick the bag up to walk down the aisle of a plane it swings out to the side. I think I will add a small strap in-between the top two handles for that purpose.

I'm a big fan of Osprey gear; a bit pricey, but in general worth every penny. I have the Farpoint 40L along with a few other Osprey bags, and while an outstanding backpack it's become obvious that hanging things off my shoulders is more for the younger me than the current well-worn model. With over two million miles in the air and the overhead bins & airports that go along with that, the quality of this equals the best gear I've owned (including LuggageWorks and Brightline--I'm a big believer in excessively utilitarian gear). The overall versatility and convenience are unmatched.

The only alterations I'd like to see are some additional organization options (internal pouches/dividers, etc.). Nothing major, and since I use packing cubes extensively, it doesn't pose any real issue for me. Still, the ability to semi-permanently compartmentalize internally would be welcome.

Isn’t wearing well

We have several Osprey bags, and all of them are wearing well - except this one. The fabric that this particular bag is made of is more of a coated waterproof, plasticized-type of fabric, and out of all of our Osprey bags, this one looks the worst. It’s scuffed, the Osprey emblem is wearing off, and it just looks bad.

Recently purchased this bag and took it on a trip to Zion. I had been looking for a carry on size bag and this worked great. I was able to get all my hiking gear in this bag with a little room to spare. As others have said this bag is not super structured so depending on how you look at it ( you can over-pack to where the sides bulge or you can literally utilize every inch of the bag). Very durable so far. Can’t wait to use this bag on my next trip! And as always happy I chose Osprey! Haven’t been disappointed yet

Good build quality and quality fabrics as expected from Osprey. The high roller chassis they brag about actually just reduces the total volume of this bag and there is no purpose since most bags they use this on double as backpacks but this one doesn’t. The end result is competition like the North Face bag has more room. Also the location of the extendable handle is poorly placed and is more annoying to get it to come up than it should be. I love Osprey bags and have some backpacking bags but I think they still have some things to figure out when it comes to more traditional luggage.

I've become a little lazy when choosing bags since getting a travel backpack from Osprey a few years ago. This was the fourth bag I've bought from them and is doing an excellent job (the other 3 bags are different and still work perfectly well). The packs rolling and handle mechanisms feel very robust, and the pack is suprisingly light for it's capacity. I personally prefer soft outer bags to hard cases as they are more flexible, and this product has great build quality with all the seams and zips being well sown and substantial.

The only shortcoming is that the lack of compartments to conveniently separate items. I knew this when buying the product and still feel that this is worth accepting in order to have an otherwise excellent product.

I bought two of these to travel to Thailand with on holiday and they proved to be very robust and totally fit for purpose.
We took six Osprey wheeled bags between us as checked baggage and all performed perfectly.
There were bags coming off the airport baggage carousel battered and smashed to pieces, but these Rolling Transporter 40's were completely unscathed. And being highly weather resistant really adds to their usefulness.
