This book is not a “read once and done book”, I think that you will benefit greatly if you get it in print form, so you can refer back to it easier with post-it notes and all. I think that this is a great book to get as it has given me so much more clarity over something that we are all prone too and how we can avoid it
I found Osteoporosis and Osteopenia: Vitamin Therapy for Stronger Bones quite in depth. Bryant Lusk’s research into the importance of a quality vitamin and mineral was very helpful. What I found the most useful was how he divided up the different ages and needs, then when to take them throughout the days for optimal absorption. This is a most useful book, I believe it will be used now and years to come. I will keep this in my ebook library as it is one of the most instructional book I have found about stronger bones (that was understandable).
In his Introduction Bryant’s tenor of instruction and caring is evident: ‘Bones are in a state of constant renovation as they are stripped of old material and restored with new. This activity occurs every second of every day of your entire life. Now you can maximize your bone-building process with minimal disruption to your daily life…Although there are many factors involved in osteoporosis and osteopenia – such as genetics – a primary cause is the improper quantity and ratio of vitamins and minerals that we consume. Moreover, maintaining a healthy liver is critical for achieving high bone density. Popular fat-burning products have been shown to injure the liver, which is detrimental to the bone building process. Therefore, you are going to be introduced to two searchable databases that will enable you to identify products that can damage your liver and weaken your bones…’
With this degree of well-researched involvement, Douglas presents an excellent manual of advice and recommendations for caring for bone health. His knowledge is impressive as is his manner of presentation. His book includes facts about magnesium, zinc, Vitamin D3, iodine, potassium, calcium, multivitamins and minerals as supplements, along with advice about the role of protein, carbohydrates and supplement abuse. His knowledge and his instruction skills are impressive as he sheds a new light on vitamin and mineral therapy to prevent bone loss and disease. Highly recommended for all ages. Grady Harp, May 19
