Timeless looks and powerful performance combine in one sleek machine. The Oster Beehive Blender has a classic toggle switch which controls two speeds and a whopping 600 watts of power. It’s got every blending possibility covered, from frozen drinks to dips, sauces to smoothies, and soup to nuts. The 5-cup glass jar has been Thermal Shock tested so you can pull it out of a steamy dishwasher and safely make a frosty cold beverage right away. The stainless steel “ice crusher” blade does just that so you get smooth frozen drinks every time. The Oster Beehive Blender is made in North America and backed by the superior quality of All Metal Drive. Because the two pieces that connect are metal (instead of plastic), you get a more durable and longer-lasting blender that will function flawlessly, party after party, year after year. Has a 1-year warranty.

1. Order this Beehive blender.
2. Order an Oster-compatible glass cloverleaf jar and use it instead of the square jar which comes with your Beehive order (keep the stock jar as a backup).
3. Order one of the Oster fusion blades and use it in place of the stock blade which comes with the Beehive (very important--the fusion blade is MUCH better).
The Beehive has plenty of power, the sharp fusion blade pulverizes almost anything, and the cloverleaf jar is very effective at facilitating a good vortex during blending. So this combination, IF USED WISELY, will do 90% of what the Vitamixes and Blendtecs do, at about 1/5 the cost. "Used wisely" means: don't overload the blender, use liquid, don't move the jar around on the base, (especially when the blender is running), not too many frozen solid items, make sure the the bottom blade assembly is screwed tight onto the jar, etc. The great thing about Oster blenders is that parts are easily replaceable and many are interchangeable. Case in point: say the blade assembly on your Kitchen Aid blender goes bad. Get ready to shell out $75 for a whole new jar/blade assembly. Now, say the blade on your Oster Beehive breaks. Order a $15 replacement from Amazon and you're good to go! Which would you rather do?
Yes, it is VERY loud. Annoyingly so. But simply wrapping the base in a kitchen towel helps to reduce the volume. I can live with that.
Yes, there is a burning electrical smell when I turn it on. But it is gradually dissipating.
The base is much lighter than the old one, but the motor is a little more powerful. Blends everything nicely very quickly.
And I can still screw the blade assembly onto a narrow-mouth canning jar, making it a snap to make messy, oily salad dressings and such. Try doing that with a Vitamix or another blender. No can do!
Over all, I am happy with it. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars was due to the noise factor. Other than that, it's an excellent blender.
The trick with this machine is to start blending on the pulse setting (flip down), then, when the first phase of chopping/blending is well under way, flip the button right up to high speed, without stopping in between. I like the lid with its fill-in middle lid, which is separate. One can rotate it slightly to lift it off, and then use the 1.5" wide opening to add olive oil or other liquids, or maybe also berries or other morsels.
It is a little loud when operating, but that bothers me none, since the machine only works for short periods, less than 2 minutes mostly.
But the hard rubber coupling between the motor & the blade finally broke & it was impossible to remove the rusted screws to take it apart so that I could replace that $5 coupling. I was so disappointed to lose my faithful old solid metal blender.
I researched new blenders for a long time, because I tend live on smoothies during the summer & I wanted one that might hold up almost as long as my old one.
After reading many Amazon (and other) reviews of many machines, I concluded that a modern version of the Oster beehive would meet my needs.
I was not disappointed. Although the beehive body is now not the heavy steel it once was, the motor is quite powerful. It does a great job of blending up frozen fruit and ice into a smooth purée in no time. It seems like it might be a little louder than the old one, but not unusually loud for a powerful blender.
I definitely think it's the best blender for the price & I'm glad I got it. I expect to have this baby for a long time!
