I needed a electric skillet and was at Target this was pretty much the best thing they had going. I made fried chicken in it the first use and that went ok, I would have liked better heat but it got the job done. I then made fried potatoes skillet and noticed some sticking of the food. This morning I made my third dish another skillet and used fried sausage lots of grease and still I had my food stick as if there was no non stick surface. I also agree with the other comment here that the heat distribution is not good. Im looking to buy a new pan today on Amazon.
One thing I do like about this pan is that the pan lifts off the base so you can serve in it or take it to someone house if you wanted to.

The product description is completely inadequate and leaves out some essential information that you learn after you use this skillet, or if you read the directions first! This product isn't for even shallow frying - they tell you to use no more than 1 cup of oil. You're supposed to preheat the skillet for 10-15 minutes before using. The indicator light stays on as long as the skillet is plugged in, so there is no indicator to tell you that you've reached the desired temperature - but that's okay because you never will. Since you can't use a deep fat frying thermometer when you're only shallow frying, you have no clue what the temperature of the oil or skillet surface is unless you're experienced enough to know other ways of testing for readiness - like a drop of water bouncing on the surface, or a bread cube browning in a short period of time. In short, maybe this skillet will work as a griddle or a saute pan, though other reviewers don't seem to think so, but it is NOT a frying pan. Mine goes back to Target tomorrow after one attempt to use it.

I BOUGHT THIS FRYPAN BECAUSE MY OLD ONE GAVE OUT RIGHT BEFORE MY DAUGHTERS BIRTHDAY DINNER.SHE LOVES FRIED CHICKEN SO I NEEDED A FRYPAN.THE WHOLE DINNER WAS RUINED!!! IT WOULDNT GET HOT ENOUGH TO BROWN THE CHICKEN. IT GOT DONE FROM THE HEAT BUT THE CRUST WAS GOOEY AND MUSHY. I CARRIED IT BACK AND GOT MY MONEY. I DIDNT GET IT ON AMAZON BUT THOUGHT EVERYONE SHOULD KNOW NOT TO BUY THIS PAN FOR FRYING.

This is the worst product I can ever recall buying. It is not non stick. Pretty much everything sticks. Anything you put made of liquid like pancakes rolls to the edges where it sticks even worse. This happens because the center of the pan is higher than the center. This company has no quality control. No one their right mind would think this is designed correctly. Buy the Presto brand instead.

Don't buy. Uneven cooking because the heating element circles the center area and not at all around the perimeter. Even worse is the low heat effect even when turning to the highest possible setting. Used once for bacon and pancakes and the bacon had to be cooked at 400 degrees, 250 degrees in old skillet, and the pancakes stuck no matter how much oil I used. It's going back to the store after just one use. BEWARE!!

This skillet is junk! Uneven cooking, have to turn it all the way up to brown any thing. If you do manage to get it to simmer DO NOT REMOVE THE LID! This will set you back 10-15 minutes in cooking time every time you do this. Did not buy this from Amazon but wanted others not to buy this. I never dreamed I would have to thouroughly research an electric skillet so as not to buy one that doesn't perform the most basic electric skillet functions. I have had cheapo electric skillets that 1). heated quickly, 2). Removing the lid to stir doesn't stop a simmer dead in it's tracks, 3). abilty to fry, 4.) Ability to finely tune the heat. I also think is should heat evenly across the surface. You can do none of these things with this piece of junk. I will never buy an Oster branded anything again. It gets one star because I don't have the choice of no stars!

This skillet is EXTREMELY hard to clean - definitely not non-stick. The supposed non-stick coating was flaking off after two uses, both as a standard skillet with the regular assumptions for usage. The heating element doesn't heat evenly - although that could also be the poor quality pan as well. Either way, it doesn't cook evenly. Everything sticks to the bottom, even something simple like ground beef. I returned this today and got my money back, stay away from it, you will be highly disappointed.

This is the most expensive POS I have ever purchased. Thought it would be great to be able to lift the pan off the burner for easy serving of fried rice etc. In theory, that's a great idea. BUT this thing won't fry. Anything. I have had it for a year and just threw it away last night. Any fry pan will cycle on and off to maintain temperature, but this thing cycles off and takes forever to come back up to temperature, so your food is constantly getting cool and then beginning to cook again. It took me an HOUR to fry a few chicken breasts. Trying to keep anything crispy when the temp cycles off for long stretches of time is totally impossible. I give up. I used a cheap PRESTO for 10 years, and I'm going to buy another one.
