As far as toasting is concerned, I've had no problems. I'm actually a little confused by the other reviewer who said his bread didn't fit and couldn't get fully toasted. I use pretty standard bread (the Whole Foods store brand), and I've never had an issue with toast sticking out of the top. Maybe he's using super-sized bread, who knows.
The toaster does a great job with toasting things evenly, which is a big improvement over my last toaster. You may have to play around a little to get the perfect setting for the kind of bread/bagel you use, though, as a thicker piece will most likely need to be toasted longer and at a lower temperature if you want it toasted all the way through.
In all, there's really nothing I would change about this toaster. It might be a little cooler with an LED screen, but in terms of functionality and price, I would happily buy this again.
I'm attaching a picture to show how the toaster does not toast all the way to the top of the bread and how it is always darker on top. This was on setting #3.
Update, 4 stars to 3: I have had trouble with bread getting stuck. The reason is the peculiar orientation of the tines at the bottom of the bread cage. My photo shows this. One half of the tines are horizontal (as you would expect); the other half stick straight up, I suppose to impale the bread (??), but this leaves a slot on the side wide enough for skinny bread to fall thru. You need to place thin slices carefully into the cage, angling them to the side so that they don't fall into the gap. .
Also, I have had trouble with the mechanism. One side sometimes got stuck, or it would bind, and wouldn't go all the way down. I fixed this by inverting the toaster, shaking out the crumbs, and working the mechanism up and down repeatedly to clear it. My last toaster was 20 years old and still working when it went to Goodwill; the flimsy feel of this one raises doubts it will last anywhere near that long.

This product toasts VERY unevenly. When set so front side is perfectly toasted - the back side of the bread is not toasted at all. Read morePublished 2 days ago by Amazon Customer
I bought this for a friend, and she loves it. She had been asking around for a purple toaster to match the rest of her kitchen for months. I finally decided to go to Amazaon. Read morePublished 2 days ago by murraysmom1
This toaster was not worth it to me. Almost anything I put in here is either burnt, unevenly cooked, or still frozen at the top in some cases. Read morePublished 6 days ago by Tele
The best toaster for the money! More expensive models are ridiculously overpriced, as this does all that you need and looks good on the counter-top. Read morePublished 10 days ago by BRIAN A
Perfect toaster; makes perfect toast. Good deal for the money. Cheaper ones fail or fall apart (I've owned plenty), and more expensive ones don't work any better.Published 12 days ago by Paul Harry
Was slightly large. Didn't try it. Just returned it. But design was nice.Published 12 days ago by LM
