Nicole French does not disappoint. The Quick Fire Series with Skylar Cosby and Brandon Sterling and then if that wasn't exciting enough she gave us the Spitfire Series with Eric de Vries and Jane Lefferts half Korean and half American. There story is stolen being written in this the Rose Gold Series. But you could have knocked me over with a feather to read the story of Nina de Vries Gardner and Matthew Zola ADA in Brooklyn. I love Matthew he is that Italian lover type of guy who believes in love so much so that he can't shake the wear and tear of war because he had fought in the Iraq wore and it still brought up bad memories for him. Lets get onto the story. We know who Nina is, cousin to Eric and wife to Calvin Gardner. We did not know why she was married to him until this story. The we have Matthew him and his family. He was raised by his Nonna and Nonno, Stefano Cristano Zola. His grandparents raised him and his sisters Joni, Lea, Marie, Kate and Frankie because his parents were alcoholics and his father died in an automobile accident and of course he was drinking or drunk. His mother bailed on them after that so they were left with their grandparents, which was probably the best thing for them.
the first book in her new Rose Gold series. A connected spin-off to her recently completed Quicksilver , this is the story of Matthew Zola and Nina de Vries. A man with a penchant for fine menswear, hard work, and a district attorney and a woman who should have everything but finds herself trapped in her marriage to an abusive jerk, trapped in fake friendships to shallow socialite's and trapped in her desire for Matthew, the one man who makes her feel alive, who makes her feel like he actually sees HER. A powerful story that intertwines with what we have already lived through in the last quicksilver book but told from a completely different angle. The ins and outs of Matthew & Nina's affair are complicated, heart breaking, and ultimately may just break them both. This story is very intense and we of course have the drama of the famous and wealthy and then we have the drama of those in everyday Brooklyn or Manhattan or the Bronx, just everyday people. People who go to church like Zola and given penance to the priest and go to each others house for Sunday dinner or Friday night get togethers. This will leave you on the edge of your seat and will reveal some of the things you might have been wondering about Nina de Vries and her family. I love these books but sometimes I want them all in one book but then I don't know if I could take all the drama in one book it probably needs to be broken up into a series, even this book was broken up into three parts, Act I, Act II and Act III. Get this series I highly recommend it you will probably want to get the other series, Spit Fire and Quick Silver to find out the back story of this story.

So so many feels! Nicole French has an amazing ability to find raw emotions, and play with/torture her readers’ hearts. Book 1 of the Rose Gold trilogy will have you all over the place, both loving and hating the characters (ultimately loving them though), and wanting them to have their HEA. Of course, just like life things aren’t always easy and they’ll have their obstacles to overcome. I can’t wait until the next book, “The Perfect Woman” to come out this summer!

To everyone around him, Matthew Zola is a good guy, a hero, a loving brother/uncle/grandson, great friend; however, to himself, he’s a grade A @$$hole who is beyond redemption. Zola is an NYC DA, who never has a problem going after the hard cases, and when mutual friends (Jane & Eric de Vries) need help, he instantly agrees. After a rough day at work, he heads to his favorite bar in search of relief. He meets Nina Astor, who is the epitome of everything he wants in a woman (classic beauty, grace, a real life version of the great Hollywood films). This is a long book. Which is my beef in that this is book 1. There is no resolution in this book. It's well written, but the villain from the last series is in this one also. Nina and Matthew, I just want to shake them! Why would you keep a secret of someone that honestly holds no power over them? This is the stuff that makes me crazy!

The attraction is hot, the prequel is the really steamy part of the story which is rehashed throughout this book. Matthew has been an unapologetic womanizer. His family keep trying to get him married off, but he falls hard for Nina Astor. He can't find anyone with that name and he has looked! They do find each other, and it is very inconvenient.

Matthew is a veteran Marine regretting things he did/ordered in the military. He is now an ADA in Brooklyn. So his work provides fodder for this story. Nina, beautiful, married, unhappy socialite has a trunk load of junk in her trunk.

So, is it worth reading? Yes, but be prepared, no conclusion in this book, and the next one doesn't come out until June! I'd bet there is a 3rd book as well so maybe September for that one?

Honestly, these books seem needlessly long!

A beautifully written, atmospheric, bitter-sweet story.

Nicole French has written a wonderful book. This contemporary novel captures the charm of the 1950s old style movie romance, in a story of a forbidden love that can never be. Nina is a beautiful, broken and haunted character. She deserves so much better than life has given her, and Zola. Zola is all charisma, charm, passion and strength. He is also in despair with his hopeless love for Nina. Time and again they are drawn together, while desperately trying not to be.

This story is so much more than I can express. It weaves in characters from other stories that the author has written in such a beautiful way. The world this author has created through all her books is thoroughly absorbing and I was completely transported there once again.

I am utterly in love with these two characters, and was left reeling at the end of the book. Needless to say I literally cannot wait to read the next book, and I know it's going to be an emotional journey just like this one.

Another beautiful love story by the talented Nicole.
How on Earth she keeps coming up with these stories I do not know, but she never disappoints.
Matthew and Nina’s story is of a forbidden love but one that we know is truly meant to be. It’s a story of passion, lust, hurt, anger but most of all a love that can’t be stopped.
If we, the reader, is as lucky in life let’s hope that we can find this total adoration with our loved ones.
