This is not how to really be successful, it is how to put your success into perspective and recognize the bigger picture is happiness in life. His book is about caring for yourself and living an abundant and prosperous life, regardless of your income. He is very candid in his book which makes it real.
This is a good book for reflection and thinking. It won’t tell you how to get rich or be successful, but it will tell you how to enjoy the ride.
Michael L. F. Slavin Author of 4 time award winning One Million in the Bank: How To Make $1,000,000 With Your Own Business, Even If You Have No Money Or Experience
Although the central message of this book is elegantly simple, it definitely is not the usual self-improvement manual, filled with simplistic feel-good platitudes and 5 step formulae. Instead, it offers a profoundly contrarian view that will often cause you to re-read a sentence or paragraph, then pause and reflect. There are also some passages that veterans will find difficult and actually caused me to put the book down for a time for some deep reflection. At the same time, I found the journey well worth the effort.
Throughout the book, Bob Draper helps us grasp the meaning of each life lesson by effectively combining insights from well-known philosophers and contemporary thought leaders like Ken Wapnick, with his own life experiences. I particularly appreciated his willingness to share the insights he has gained from his relationship with his son.
In my 43 year career I have learned that most breakthroughs in business, technology, and life are the result of a paradigm shift in our thinking. And although any meaningful change begins with dissatisfaction with the status quo, the process is never easy because it requires that we give up our previous beliefs about what it takes to be successful.
With that important lesson in mind, I recommend this valuable collection of insights to anyone who, in spite of following all of the popular advice on professional and personal success, still feels empty - and is truly ready to try another path.
I love that he does not mince words in his books, but rather gets to the helpful parts quickly! I find it is amazing now to realize everything he has taught is written down in an understandable form in his books! HOORAY! One might say; A quick reference for solutions to many problems! He's often shared; "You can do it too" practicing what he shares in his books is very empowering for peace of mind.
Sharing many of his life's experiences as he aligned them with the best philosophical and spiritual principles makes it easier to put them into practice to feel better. Three books so far! To my way of thinking that is an amazing accomplishment.
I hope he continues to write. Am wondering what it was like from his perspective to teach helpful classes for decades in a variety of subjects. You may find as I have he is still teaching in his books. Try reading one and see how quickly he gets to something helpful. On the other hand, he has always shared all with all, in a very generous fashion. Such is his nature. In his books you can read about his evolutionary process to a consistent peace of mind. You will feel better for having known this man which you will from reading what he has written in his books most recently.
