Extremely well written and filled with emotion, this book contains many sad and incredible stories told to illustrate John Ramsey's journey through suffering and faith. Although I initially approached reading this book with skepticism, I soon found myself reading through tear-filled blurry eyes. By the time I had finished reading, I had openly wept several times throughout the book.
This book was written as an encouragement to those who might otherwise abandon their faith in God in times of crisis and tragedy. The author elucidates the fact that life is not always fair, life is not always easy, but God is always good.
"People ask me how long it takes to get over the loss of a child. My response is, you never get over it." ~John Ramsey
However, the past two days, August 1 and 2, I have read Foreign Faction: Who Really Killed JonBenet? by A. James Kolar. He was one of the lead investigators in the JB Ramsey murder investigation. (Kolar was brought into the case later on and is the guy who pointed out the pink elephant in the room that every one else wanted to ignore.) He wrote the book because he couldn't sleep at night knowing what he knows, so he decided to put the truth to paper. He felt the public (especially the people of Boulder) had a right to know.
Kolar points the finger at who killed little JB (someone the public and investigators spent very little time exploring) -- supported by cold, hard evidence -- and why it was covered up and by whom. No one will ever be prosecuted for this murder, but I believe the case can now be laid to rest.
You won't have as much sympathy and respect for John Ramsey (if any at all) after reading Foreign Faction. I'm sure John never dreamt a book would come out on the heels of his own book that would blow the lid right off this case -- his case -- that is almost 16 years old. You won't be able to put the book down.
Postscript: I have had some more time to think about this. What I feel now is anger. John Ramsey is a narcissist -- not a Christian.Read more ›
The grandiose narcissism and self-deification prevalent throughout the book is then combined with huge inaccuracies such as claiming that he has been exonerated by Boulder authorities when in fact the current Boulder DA, Stan Garnett, has publicly stated that the exoneration by Mary Lacy, (the former Boulder DA,) has no legally binding effect whatsoever.
