|The most innovative gun cleaning system in the Otis line, the Otis Elite is suitable for an armorer but used by thousands. The Elite is designed to maintain all rifles from .17 to .50 caliber, pistols from .17 to .50 caliber, shotguns from .410 to 12/10 gauge, and all inline muzzleloaders. There's no better way to keep your weapons collection performing like new. The Otis Elite starts with the world-famous 750 Tactical Cleaning System, which includes an entire line of bronze bore and chamber cleaning brushes. Also included in the cleaning system are six Memory-Flex cleaning rods, an all-purpose nylon receiver brush, a T-handle bar, three slotted tips, obstruction removers, small and large Patch Savers, a bore reflector/flag safety, small caliber and all-caliber 100-percent cotton patches, and two 5-ounce tubes of Otis O85 Ultra Bore solvent.|

I love the kit itself. I've been shooting for over 39 years, and my cleaning supplies have become a hodge-podge of accumulated parts. Still and all, I never seemed to have exactly what I needed when I needed it. That's all solved by the Otis Elite - it has just about everything!
Sure, there are some things I don't need right this minute, like a 28 gauge shotgun brush, but if and when I do need it, I have it. I like the cable concept, and after I was able to clean my Colt M4-.22 carbine from the breech using the included special short .22 brush, I was convinced.
The only thing I don't like - and I'm not even deducting a star for it - is the nylon kit-bag. They tried to design it well, but it's awkward and difficult to use. Frankly, being that this kit is kind of tailored toward an armorer, I fail to see the need for having a soft kit bag to carry into the field. I decided to abandon the bag and consolidate all my supplies into one container, and a three-tray Plano tacklebox worked perfectly. See my pictures I've uploaded above for how I arranged things.
Oh - and the icing on the cake - the Otis kit is made in the United States.
When getting started, the video is useful; but they recommend pulling each patch up to 6 times and I've found that is too much. I generally pull each patch 3 times and I use 2 patches for each gun. Also, the larger patches claim to be 'all-caliber'; but stick to the smaller patches for .22 and smaller bores - or you'll run into all kinds of problems:).
Although this will get you started, you will need to buy new cleaning patches (I buy cases of 1K) and also new bore brushes as the ones in the kit wear out.
The only thing that I wasn't overly impressed with was the lense cleaning kit. Fortunately, cleaning lenses is fairly easy and I've never felt like a dedicated kit was required.
I never used the oil that comes with the kit since I prefer Slip2000 EWL lube; but it is available if you want to use Otis brand CLP...
I like to keep this larger kit at my workbench where I do my major gun cleaning and then I keep one of the smaller pouches in my range bag.
If you're looking for a good cleaning kit that will cover just about everything, then I suspect this is the kit for you.
1. The Elite contains all the supplies you need to clean ANY gun - rifles, shotguns, handguns in ALL calibers.
2. The quality is great - very sturdy and respectable.
3. The Elite is actually made in America. Buying this product not only benefits you, it benefits other working Americans.
4. All the supplies in the kit come in a very organized serviceable nylon bag (the size of a small handbag), giving quick, easy access to any item you may need.
5. Good value. Although you could possibly buy everything in this kit separately for about the same cost, it remains very reasonably priced given what you get.
6. In case you're new to properly cleaning firearms, the kit comes with a DVD that walks you step by step through the cleaning process of the various types of firearms.
Products that truly provide value and utility, are reasonably priced, and support American jobs are becoming more and more rare - the Otis Elite does all of these. Great product.
