Top Customer Reviews
The case actually has four parts. First is a screen protector that goes on easy. It is so nice it feels like the original glass. Then there is a rubber case that wraps the phone. This rubber inner part gives super nice padding at the corners. Over this goes a hard case which snaps together with a beveled front that will protect the glass from touching the ground should the phone get dropped and fall face first.
All that protection and yet it really doesn't feel like it makes the phone more bulky. Overall you get the feeling holding the case that it's just the regular phone case. Another review commented that the case was slippery but I don't find it to be so. The case actually has a sort of grain finish to it that makes for a nice grip.
In terms of protection this should be more than fine for most folks. I've seem YouTube videos where folks have done some pretty impressive drop tests with Otterbox cases with no damage. My favorite is a guy testing an Otterbox case of the same design as this on a new Apple iPhone. They dropped it off the roof of a 4 story parking garage and the phone was undamaged.
So this case is a solid choice for anyone looking for a good case for their new G2. My wife and I both have had them on our phones now for a week and love them. The case is well designed and very practical.
Anywho, I don't know anyone with a smartphone that hasn't heard of Otterbox. I've never had an Otterbox case before. I just knew they seemed expensive for a phone case. I get it now. This thing is so much better than the fifty million cheap phone cases you find at the mall kiosk. It's sturdy. My kid has flung it a few times, I've dropped it a couple times screen down on tile and my phone doesn't have scratch. There are flexible covers protecting the micro usb port and headphone jack too. Pretty cool.
The only "problem" is the case gets a little dirty. But I knew that would happen since it's white. So it's not really a problem for me. I just assumed that was why it was so much cheaper than the same cases in darker colors.
However, it was especially important this time around to buy and put one on my phone due to a recent medical issue we are trying to sort out. I have what seems like narcolepsy (all the effects but not sure if that is the official diagnose yet.
I am falling asleep at random times, sometimes with little to no notice and regardless as to how much sleep I have. It is as if I am just passing out. When I start to fall asleep (and again, there is no notice) my phone hits the floor! I don't know how many times I have dropped my phone on the floor but this has protected the case and screen. I don't know what is happening to the internals but I do know it is protecting the outside and the phone is still working, over 100 drops later and I haven't even had this phone for two months! Please note, though, that although I have dropped the phone while standing, it has been mostly while sitting.
