Trusted, Rugged Protection
The Kindle Paperwhite is designed to deliver the best reading experience. The OtterBox Defender Series case is designed to protect this device in all the environments you enjoy reading.
Rugged, Multi-layer Case
OtterBox is the innovator of the first multi-layer case. Since that first case many have tried to create something similar, but nothing beats the original. Innovative engineering and precision design work together to create this multi-layer case that provides trusted protection against drops, dust, scratches, and shock.
The Defender Series is made up of a two-piece polycarbonate inner shell that deflects impact force, a self-adhering screen protector that guards against scratches and scrapes, and an outer durable synthetic rubber slip cover that absorbs impact. These materials work together to take on the heavy use and accidental abuse that can happen to your vital device.
Included Shield Stand
This Defender Series case comes standard with a shield stand. This stand provides added protection when covering the touch screen during transport, and also provides for convenient use with comfortable typing and viewing angles.
Technology Use Without Worry
This is the case you need if you want to be careless, are tough on technology, anticipate heavy use, or are just plain clumsy. Enjoy reading wherever you like without worrying about damaging your Kindle Paperwhite along the way.

Top customer reviews
Some users may find the case to be bulky because the top does not lay flush with the device when it's closed. This is because the device snaps neatly into the top when you're reading so that you can keep the top and bottom pieces together. It takes up considerably more room in my bag than the Kindle would on its own, but as a commuter I'm happy knowing that my Kindle is protected as my bag gets knocked around on public transit.
Some users may also find the noise made when sliding/popping the device out undesirable. I personally don't think the noise is bad, but if you're using this in bed next to a sleeping partner they might hear it.
Overall, this case is great if you're hard on your devices. The few minor things I've mentioned are the only potentially negative comments I have, and they shouldn't discourage you from buying this case if you're looking for something that's indestructible.
So my OtterBox is to protect my reader. Yes, it does. It's the same size but a bit thicker. It's also a bit heavier. The feature that takes a bit getting used to is you now turn it on and off with the push button. Turn it off, the screen goes 'dark' with less light and to a screensaver (usually the latest blurb to buy another book). To turn it back on you push the button and it lights up.
The OtterBox has a removable 'lid' that snaps over the front / screen portion of the reader. It stays off when in use but can snap back on when you're done. It takes a bit to get used to the differences but the trade off, for me, is worth it. No more fumble fingers and praying my paperwhite still works! - Dan's Wife
