I have an almost 9 year old son who just finished the 2nd grade. Last summer he was reading early readers, only if I sat with him.
I bought 4 Otto Undercover books a few years ago and put them away for when my son was ready for them. Well we pulled them out
last Christmas and what a hoot! I really enjoy them. They are fun and funny! What else would you expect from Rhea Perlman from Cheers
and comedy fame! One chapter can be one word long, or one page long, or 1/2 chapter. Lots of ways to feel successful reading these.
The topic about a boy racecar driver who is an undercover agent is awesome. There are lots of things to look for like palindromes, words
spelled the same way forward as backwards, like Otto and racecar. There is a strange but interesting cast of characters in these stories.
Cut to this summer and my son read #5 practically on his own. I had to sit with him just to enjoy it! I am going to write Rhea Perlman
a fan letter and thank her for these books! I found out about them when I heard her on the radio in the SF Bay area talking about them.
I recommend these books and can't wait for #6! You will be entertained and your kid's will have lots of success, even while reading in the summertime!

The child for whom I bought this book has spent many pleasant hours enjoying the story and the sense of humor of the storyteller.
