"Dr. Bevins is to be commended for making the riches of Cranmer's daily prayer cycle fresh, appealing and, most importantly of all, easily available to a new generation."
Ashley Null, Faculty of Divinity Cambridge University

Dr. Winfield Bevins takes the liturgy of the Book of Common Prayer and truly makes it common. He shows that the words that have been used for hundreds of years still have the power today. There are many different styles of prayer from extemporaneous to liturgical, like the BCP, and when I can't think of the words to pray, it is good to know that someone has been able to put words to my prayers.

What a privilege to read this fresh look at orthodoxy in the modern day church. I'm a worship leader/service planner at 1400+ member. 3.5 year old Baptist church plant in SC and I will definitely use the modern day liturgy at my church. I appreciate Winfield making the prayers in the Book of Common Prayer now more accessible for us to use in our services today. What a rich heritage we have in traditions of the church and yet the modern day mega church seems to forget them. I love when we use these prayers and readings in our services, it forces us to actually open our mouth and confess our need for the Lord. Often, we attend church services and we don't have any opportunity to respond or feel the tension of our sin and God's holiness. Winfield makes this easy for us. Finally, I got to meet Winfield in person, and he is the real deal. What an incredible communicator and great passion the local church. Well done sir!

Coming from a person who has never been exposed to the Book of Common Prayer, Dr. Bevins' book helped me to understand how the constant immersion in scripture forms our life in Christ. I would recommend this book to anyone who wishes to use the BCP to its fullest extent. It is a great guide in understanding and implementing the practices of prayer, scripture reading, and meditation.

This a well-written and much-needed book. Especially in today's church that is longing to recapture it's spiritual history, Bevins has given us a very accessible resource to aid in that recovery. I recommend this book to anyone, in any denomination that wants to go deeper in their prayer life. In my Anglican church, this book will certainly become a core resource for catechism and discipleship classes.

Phenomenal book. Dr. Bevins truly puts the importance of Common Prayer into perspective. A must have for Anglicans, and a great resource for all Christians who want to develop a better understanding of the importance of liturgical worship, both as an historical fact and a spiritual reality.

This claims to be a guide to the Book of Common Prayer. It sort of is, but it's more of an abridged version of the BCP with intros to each chapter. This book does not instruct on how to use actual BCP, which is what I was looking for and expecting from the title of this book.
